Review

Ysatis' output has been closely connected with Tresor, having released two albums for the German label. Now the Greek producer's work is getting reissued as part of the 'Archiv' series, and despite some of the tracks being close to 15 years old, nothing here sounds dated. "Mar's Bar" is a positively upbeat take on Basic Channel dub techno, its cavernous textures unfolding over a jerky groove. "On the Hook" sees Ysatis focus on a softer, more melodic take on dub techno via soft focus keys, while the most distinctive track is the chiming chords and surging bass of "Alright". The re-release also brings with it two remixes of "Alright", the first a rolling, cut-up techno workout from Blake Baxter and an uncharacteristic, introspective rework from Surgeon.
