Review

We always wonder why Joshua Eustis and Turk Dietrich don't simply release more music. The duo are the perfect example of Spectrum Spool's diversity and proneness to experimentation, and yet they only appear every few years. Perhaps, however, that is one reason why we're so pleased to see themevery time they appear on our charts. Last time they came through with a full, self-titled album, whereas they're in definite EP mode here, bringing four singular sound installations covering all corners of what we commonly refer to as 'electronica'. "I E/P" rumbles its stuttering kicks over a desolate landscape of ambient sounds, which is evolved into a more bizarre strain of minimalism on "II E/P". "VII/Jlin" reinterpretation of the possibilities of high-tech electro - our favourite tune on here - which leaves "CC/Fluxion" the room to dissipate into hyperspace with its liquified, dubbed-out technoid melodies. Excellent stuff.
