Due to its largely improvised nature and high quality threshold, Septimus's sole album, "We Want a Piece of the Pie", has long been something of a collector's item, with original vinyl copies changing hands for eye-watering sums online. Happily, Cultures of Soul has licensed it and here presents the first official digital download reissue. Sitting somewhere between the jazz-funk antics of Weather Report, early '80s soul, jazz-rock and high-paced disco funk, each of the eight tracks was recorded live at one of the umpteen gigs the band performed around Boston in the late '70s and early '80s.
