Review

Shir Khan's annual 'Welt Am Draht' compilations are, by design, wilfully eclectic, with the Berlin-based DJ/producer choosing to showcase tried-and-tested dancefloor gems regardless of whatever genre they may sit in. That means that on this edition, Modular Project's glossy nu-disco workout 'Sex' shares sonic space with the Whomadewho style punk-funk of Made In TLV ('Super Cool'), the throbbing neo-Italo joy of Budakid's 'Infinity', the fizzing electro-pop of Alex Media ('Rompe Disco'), the big room piano house nostalgia of Moodymanc (his own 'piano dub' as Dubble D), the trance-inducing acid-powered insanity of Renato Cohen ('Lemon Key'), the bleep-sporting, Lil Louis-esque 'Feeling Mumbled' by James Curd and Baby Rollen, and the early Pet Shop Boys style Hi-NRG throb of Leroz ('Neonim').
