Review

Silex Device is the latest artist to appear on Ownlife, a label that, by its own admission, is dedicated to 'the mental and hypnotic side of techno'. With releases from Svreca and Jonas Kopp already in its catalogue, Sediments is in good company. On the title track, Silex Device lays down a rolling, tribal track that takes inspiration from Jeff Mills' loopy Purposemaker series. "Primary Context" is in a similar vein, but on this occasion, icy synth stabs inhabit the dense, filtered rhythm. "11000BC" marks a shift in style, with Silex Device taking inspiration from metallic, techy house. "Field Survey" marks another shift, bringing the release to a close with a stepping, tranced out track.
