Taken from their excellent Ninja Tune album Matilda, Stateless features vocals from Brooklynite Shara Worden as well as arrangements from the band's own Kidkanevil - himself a solo producer and DJ of ever-growing repute. Beautifully pared-down, with a distant guitar keeping time for Worden's close-mic'd vocals, its both mildly sinister and very soulful stuff - the former exaggerated wonderfully on their distorted, over-driven Blue Daisy Flammable mix. Fellow Ninja label-mate Slugabed cooks up a very modern mix of 808 hits and hazy, detuned vocals on his mix, while the inclusion of "Blue Fire" and "Bloodstream" connect the band with their future-soul ethos perfectly.Get new release alerts
