A quick web search confirms that this release from Tsuba is something of a mystery. There's little info out there about the debutant producer (or producers), and thus far Tsuba is keeping tight-lipped. As first outings go, it's really rather good. Title track "Pulse" has received a lot of early DJ support and it's easy to see why; built around rubbery but sweaty machine drums, turn-of-the-'90s bleeps, spaced-out rave-era vocal samples and a killer bassline, it's a locked-in peak-time treat you'll be hearing a lot more of in the months ahead. Elsewhere "Timewarp" is a bongo-laden late night jack-track blessed with a seriously filthy analogue bassline and "2012" is a slightly smoother deep house box jam that makes merry with a surprisingly sparse collection of weighty, floor-friendly elements.
