Review

With releases on his own Tallmen as well as Eps for Tanstaafl's sub-label, Brian Mitchell has made a name for his deep but impactful house and techno. Circadian Rhythm will only serve to enhance this reputation. The title track is deep and dubby, but driven by a rickety, metallic rhythm. "Batucada" is deeper still, thanks to its blustering synths, but Mitchell deploys angular percussion and steely drums to ensure it doesn't sound too atmopsheric. As its title suggests, "Driving Forward" is also dance-floor primed; on this occasion however, he fuses musical elements with a pulsing electronic groove to create another smartly thought out and executed techno track.
