These days, Tevo Howard seems to release just as many blissful, post-synth-pop cuts as he does club-ready deep house workouts. Happily, the expansive Doctor Machine focuses far more on the latter, combining the producer's vintage Chicago house roots with occasional nods towards dreamy synth-wave and the superior end of Italo-disco. Highlights are plentiful throughout, and include the Larry Heard-ish warmth of "Remembrance", the bustling, acid-and-bleep fired brilliance of "The Art of Romance", the Gherkin Jerks-meet-early-Pet Shop Box flex of "Love Dial/7 Days a Week" and the jaunty, beat-less synthesizer ambience of jazzy closer "The Treaty of the Paradises".Get new release alerts
