Review
Italian trio Antonio Pecori, Stefano Meucci and Andrea Giacchetti have been pottering away, largely unheralded, since 2006. Four Rooms, their second single for Italian imprint Bosconi, is arguably their strongest to date. It eschews their previous Akufen-ish tech-funk sounds in favour of something rather more striking - house music forced through a post-rock blender (think Four Tet making deep house). The grooves are loose and fuzzy, the sounds alternately glitchy and woozy, and the melodies subtle and other-wordly. It's a combination that makes for a beautiful EP, as they tip-toe between post-jazz looseness ("Find Yourself"), droning deepness ("Wandering Souls") and broken Afro-house ("Goodies"). Throw in a curious but entertaining remix from hirsute Dutchman San Proper, and you have an excellent four-tracker.Get new release alerts
