Axel Willner aka The Field continues his long relationship with Kompakt with the release of his sixth album on the German label. When the project first rose to prominence over a decade ago, it was due to Willner's ability to mix pop hooks with dreamy textures. While the pop element may no longer be as noticeable, Infinite Moment is still characterised by mesmerising textures. There's the MBV/Cocteau Twins-style indie drone of "Hear Your Voice", while "Divide Now" has gloomy, funereal organs underpinned by a loose groove. Although Willner slides into full-blown dream-state mode on "Something Left, Something Right, Something Wrong", the tunnelling, moody techno of "Who Goes There" shows that he is not fully focused on drifting off in to space.
