Review

Frappe's latest recruit is a self-styled 'mystery' artist, with the popular Parisian imprint naturally keeping tight lipped about the identity of the producer behind The Social Fugazi project. Rich in sneaky samples, infectious grooves and all-action productions, the five tracks stretched across the EP touch on many of Frappe's regular themes. Check first the fast-fingered bass guitar, effects-laden vocal snippets and insatiably funky grooves of disco-house numbers 'Love Affair' and 'Disco Sin', the latter a clear nod towards vintage 'French Touch' productions, before admiring the lightly gospel-tinged deep house joy of 'Got2Make'. Elsewhere, 'Reach and Touch' peppers a bouncy, mid 90s garage-house groove with flash-friend funk samples, while 'Chicago Nights' is genuinely deep and noticeably percussive.
