Review
Following a trio of multi-artist EPs, Mellphonia offshoot Fusion Sequence has finally offered up a solo EP from a single artist. Fittingly, it comes from The Variable Club, whose tracks featured on two of those three compilation style releases. 'Acid Cocktail' is a deep and dreamy, mid-tempo fusion (fittingly) of deep house and acid house that somehow sounds fresh and current despite its' self-consciously nostalgic inspirations. It's presented in two forms: the EP-leading 'Vocal Mix', in which sampled female vocals spar with lilting synthesizer lead lines and psychedelic TB-303 motifs, and the alternatively chiming and trippy instrumental take.Get new release alerts
