Review

Tommy Four Seven's new project has lined up an impressive cast of names to remix tracks from its debut album. The most prominent is Berghain resident Marcel Dettmann, who turns "Laika" into a banging, peak-time affair, its rasping percussion and chiming bells providing the basis for the original's spooky chord sequence. The unpronounceable SHXCXCHCXSH from Shifted's Avian label also yields intense results - on this occasion it takes the form of stepping rhythms, shredded drums and a cloak of droning noise as they rip apart "Kheium". But the most impressive rework by far comes from Old Apparatus, whose hymnal, eerie take on "Hidden" is reminiscent of Mogwai's soundtrack for The Returned.
