Review

London indie dance hero Timothy J Fairplay presents his first debut LP on Charlois, a sublabel of Pinkman Records, founded in 2014 out of Rotterdam. The man behind such groups in the last 15 years like Battant, The Asphodells (with Andrew Weatherall) and Haunted Doorbell (on Crimes Of The Future) he joins the dots between all his guises by combining house, disco, Italo/giallo plus a bit of EBM and post punk attitude to boot. Spangling arpeggios and all round neon-lit aesthetics rule all over "The Bronx Stasi" or the brooding title track. Balearic style classic house (which is all the rage right now) gets served up too; but fair play (no pun intended) as he proves his worth on the feelgood jams "EZ Runners" or "Messengers Of Deception" which would make even the Tuff City Kids stand up and notice. "Seven Corners" ends this long player on a wonderfully glum note with this gothed up/coldwave homage.
