This is the first material from Tobias Freund in two years, but it has been worth the wait. It starts in understated form with the downtempo drones of "Lageos 1". "Nucleon" picks up the pace somewhat with its jittery, clicky rhythm and bleary bass tones, like a black hawk helicopter landing in slow motion. By the time he gets to "Helios", the atmosphere has become frostier as razor blade percussion provides the backdrop for a world of icy textures and snow-capped soundscapes. Closing track "Spectrum V" raises the prospect of the dance floor, but only if disconnected stepping rhythms and muffled robot vocals are your thing.
