Review

Permanent Vacation regular Tom Bioly returns with a new seven-track EP which opens with previous single 'Overdyed', a chunky house instrumental with shuffling drums, plinky-plonky keys and hints of acid. That's followed first by the more Balearic-leaning 'Svnteen', and then by 'Work Shopp' - another prior single, and a bleepsbassndrums workout that you can imagine house, techno and electro floors all claiming as their own. The title track and 'Sh101' then explore that nebulous territory somewhere between progressive house, Balearica and Scandi disco, before the EP highlight arrives in the form of 'It's Alright', which is lilting, fragile and really rather lovely - leaving 'Peakzz' to play us out with its slow, hefty hand percussion, fluttering, home organ-like synth doodles and extended beatless intervals.
