Review

The fourth instalment in Tommy Four Seven's 47 label sees him go head to head with some upcoming techno producers. Shards' hard to pronounce "Frsvnfrsvnfrsvn" is an intense, panel-beating monster that cruises along over the 130bpm mark. It's redolent of late 90s techno in its loopy, heads-down approach. By contrast, Snts' "Disappearance Of Fate" is an utterly modern construct, its tunnelling rhythm and hypnotic pulses reminiscent of Sandwell District at their most austere. At the other end of the spectrum is UVB's "Move On"; a rattling broken beat provides the backing for churning filters and dramatic climaxes. And Tommy's own contribution? "Scene 4" is a percussive, rhythm-heavy track that focuses on a soaring bass.
