Review

Scouse disco misfit Ben Jamin makes his bow on Too Slow To Disco's popular edit series, following a handful of rock-solid releases for the likes of Hot Digits, Discoholics Anonymous and Hot Gorilla. He starts in fine fashion with 'Dreams', an unashamedly groovy and loose-limbed tweak of a sweet, loved-up disco number complete with undulating bass guitar, misty-eyed lead vocals and tactile turn-of-the-80s instrumentation, before opting to rearrange a more urgent (at least energy-wise) chunk of orchestrated disco hedonism on 'I' Yours'. The Liverpool-based producer slows things down further on sub-100 BPM synth-soul number 'Conclusion', before returning to warmer and woozier pastures on the effortlessly atmospheric, bass-heavy and filter-sporting bliss of 'Moment Is Real'.
