Review:
Torn Hawk has broken through in a big way this recently, putting out a bewildering array of material across L.I.E.S, Emotional Response and his own Valcrond Video label. After a few appearances on the L.I.E.S. white label series, the Brooklyn artist makes his label debut proper with one of his most varied releases to date. "Bad Deadlift" sees the producer create some deeply pulsating body music with elements of dub techno in its thick textures, while "Trapdoor" sees the producer deliver a more explicitly Balearic jam, albeit coated in grit. "Money Becomes Only Itself" is the most unexpectedly fast track we've heard from Wyatt, reaching classic industrial techno speeds but taking the sound into a more blessed out realm, while "Put That Crotchless Thing On, Then Save My Life" takes things back down a peg with easily the most drugged-out thing Wyatt has made. Essential to say the least.
