Review

Trey is a new pseudonym for a familiar face, namely former 1080p, Shoot The Lobster and Allergy Season artist Max McFerren. On this first outing for Let's Play House's "LPT White" series, he largely eschews the rave-inspired breakbeats and horizontal electronics that have marked out many of his previous releases, instead emphasizing the loved-up musical elements his usually layers upon them. So, we get a jazzy chunk of thrillingly vibrant retro-futurist Balearic house ("Why Does It Flow"), a wild and bustling, acid-fired floor-filler ("Smoke That Shit", the track closest to his previous output) and the enveloping warmth, heavyweight drums and sun-kissed early morning beauty of standout "I Got a Good Idea" (check, in particular, the life-affirming brilliance of McFerren's jazz guitar solos).
