Deep Medi Muzik's Tunnidge has put out plenty of incredible material over the last few years, and it's no wonder that the mighty Mala has picked him out and put him at the forefront of his label. This time, however, he's back with his shining new label, Shining Tyger, and an explorative debut LP named Mobius Strip. Apart from the producer's usual heads-down flex, and corner-dwelling beats, the album manages to spoil onto many new territories, sounds that we hadn't heard from Tunnidge. "Amygdala", for example, stutters a stripped-back drum & bass groove, while "Hold Tight" is a puristic jungle bruiser, and "Hermetica" spills out a war-like march in the form of rolling beats and percussion. A perfect debut from the man, and a warmly recommended one, too.
