California's Tyler Friedman continues to explore the outer hinterland of techno on his second release for the ever excellent Kontra Musik imprint. Much like his debut missive Revolve, Friedman is not afraid to use every inch of wax to experiment sonically with your perceptions of techno here. "A Night In The Woods" begins as a ball of impossibly ravelled rhythmic textures that suddenly unfurl into an intense hailstorm of melodics which reaches a peak and attains a whole new chiming, cinematic gloss. As musically refined as Friedman's original is, those craving something more appropriate for the dancefloor will revel in the accompanying remix from Rivet, who turns in a pounding, disjointed remix brimming with dirty funk.Get new release alerts
