Originally released by Delsin offshoot Ann Aimee at the end of 2012, this debut vinyl release from Ukrainian newcomer Yan Cook is an impressive, immersive one. It starts with deft, abstract percussion and subtle off-beats before a brooding chord sequence shimmies into the arrangement. As the chords envelope the arrangement, Cook picks up the tempo and turns the beats from abstract into stomping and straight, a no-nonsense cut. "Rhomb" is just as effective, but sees Cook go for the jugular from the outset. Chiming chords, nagging, hissing percussion and straight, effective kicks - that don't overpower the other elements - make for a killer techno track.
