Review

After making his debut on Bristolian imprint Crazy Legs, Ziro returns and this time he's made the leap to Fulcrum, the label previously dealing with similar strains of hybrid broken techno from Paleman and Thefft. The razor sharp dynamics are in place one more, with "Pulse" reveling in a wealth of sound design and crisp rhythmic acrobatics. It's an ever surging cut that eschews traditional melody in favour of something akin to woodblock tones, and likewise on "Twitch" there's not a great deal of warmth to be found in between the high-resolution thumps and scrapes of beats and other industrial-strength sonic matter. "Fractures" lives up to its name by loosening all the hinges and shaking down a constant pattering of found sound percussion, with touches of synth bringing the first bit of colour to the EP but utterly dominated by Ziro's rugged production skills.
