Review: The shape-shifting, corner-dwelling AKI joins Foundation Audio with six new murkers, each one supremely balanced and meditative. This, as you'd expect, is the deeper end of the dubstep spectrum, and while tunes like "Shimmer Dub" or "Spectre" might not tear it up on first listen, they can cause some serious hertz damage when played out loud and BIG! "Cesspool" stumbles in an off-kilter manner, boasting a tenebrous gust of bass at its core, while "Artefakt" feels like the more minimalistic extreme of the grime equation, which leads on nicely to the closing remix of "Shimmer Dub" from Chad Dubz, another impenetrable wall of low frequencies and pure heartical vibes. Review: The dub scene is an often under appreciated area of bass music, but labels such as Scrub A Dub have been providing consistent weight for white some time. Here we see the outstanding vocal prowess of Rider Shafique combining with Alter Echo, E3 and Ishan Sound on this dark steppers roller by the name of 'Ah Mi Guide'. We hear heavily affected vocals running wild across moody soundscapes, and that's before we even dip into Egoless's monumental dubbed out rethink. Excellent stuff!

Review: One of the most consistent singers from reggae's formative roots, and certainly one of the most distinctive, this collection of superb reboots sees Horace allowing his voice to be guided through 50 shades of dub. The pilot team for this bubblesome journey largely consists of Bristol bass elder RSD and new face Oliver Frost, both of whom add their own characteristics and twists to a wide range of Horace standards: 80s classics ("Money Money") to mid noughties moments ("Skylarking"), we drift happily between the borders of dub, house and genreless bass bliss. A must for any dub heads.

Review: If there's one thing we really really love at JunoDownload, it's a perfectly structured dubstep project, which we feel this collaboration between Barrett and the Silent Motion has delivered with major finesse. We kick this one off with the dubwise stylings of the title track 'No Mercy', driven by it's natural sounding drum work and subtle sub movements. We then take a brief look into the stunning electronic soundscape designs of 'Antichrist', before leaping into the grizzly grinding bass tones of 'Amnesia' alongside the weighty force of 'Bingleton'. Finally, we wrap the project up in style as we stumble across the super syncopated percussive pressure and spacey expanses of 'Warrior Dub'.

Review: In a week that features a tonne of top draw dubstep rollers, we were very happy to see this latest drop from the team at Cue Line roll out as they bring forward this spicy three track collection from Breez. We kick off with the dubwise delights of 'Thinking His Majesty', a tidy piece of original dubstep genius, drawing on spacey delays and pounding subs to give a real sense of depth. This is followed up with a more front facing, chord heavy re-lick from Bukkha before we finish up on the smooth sub and drum combos of 'Irie', as Gaze Ill joins the party on collaborative duties.

Review: Brixton representing: system OG Brother Culture continues his rich vein of form as he follows up his recent Mungo Hifi album with another longer on Swiss vibes station Evidence Music. Bubbling with digi dub riddims and instrumentation and lyrical clarity, highlights include the springy funk of the album title "Code Name" and "New Generation" and the much darker, heavier and directly conscious "Chant Dem Down" and "Dreadlocks Thing". Powerful, wise and lean; Brother Culture reminds us who's boss once again.

Review: Straight out of Kingston, Jamaica, Moonshine Recordings team up with the unstoppable force of Bukkha for a melodic masterpiece of an EP. Featuring multiple original vocal performances, this EP entitled 'Unity' sees Bukkha delve deep into his dub roots, especially with the vibrancy of the first track 'Unite' featuring Clinton Sly. The combination of dub-style drum arrangement and airy woodwind melodies on this and 'A Burial' featuring Don Fe makes for very enjoyable listening. The stripped back dub-reggae stylings of 'Peacemaker' alongside Blind Prophet and the murky drum and bass switch ups of 'Dark Future' round the EP off perfectly. This is another fantastic look at dub music from a different angle, a scenario that Moonshine Recordings have become synonymous with in recent times!

Review: When we heard the news that Cimm had an album on the way, we could barely contain our excitement. When we then learnt it was to be featured on Sentry, our expectations tripled, and boy does Cimm deliver! The project takes the name 'Unknown Caller!!' and is a perfect embodiment of what today's deep dubstep scene represents, from the irresistible sub pressures of 'The Corner' alongside Rider Shafique to eastern-dub hybrids of 'Blue Sapphire' and lower tempo bass quakes of 'I Am Jack Travis'. The collaborations are fruitful on this one, as Cimm also invites Youngsta, Mr K, SGT Pokes, Riko Dan and Animai to take part in what is undoubtedly one of the strongest dubstep projects of the year.

Review: It's always great to see Adam Prescott back in action, especially when joined by the wonderful Clifford Junior, this time courtesy of Backative. We have five tasty items to get our teeth stuck into on this wicked new 'Dubplate Style' drop, with the softened dubwise chord progressions and bubbling bass plucks of 'Autoflowers' kicking us off perfectly. The road becomes a tad more LFO-infused next as 'Triffid' unleashes a more lethal collection of wobbling bass notation, before 'CB400' drops us right into the thick of wobbly territory, with minimal drum work providing the rhythmic backdrop for a feast of bassy goodness. From here, the minimal jungle flexes of 'Pick A Sound' are unleashed, focussing primarily on tidy low end, before the more cymbal-driven delights of 'Easy Skanking' round the project off with a softened landing. Lovely!

Review: Rebel MC aka Congo Natty's well received 2013 album Jungle Revolution now gets the remix treatment by the who's who of the scene. From legends to upstarts, the results are quite impressive. The man is credited as being one of the original UK junglists, setting the foundations for the sound/scene and how it has evolved since, so these guys have their work cut out for them. Highlights on here are the Dubkasm Dragon Slayer mix of "Dub Souljah " with its purist dancehall vibes, the new school representing proper dub with the Jinx In dub Steppa remix of "Nu Beginningz" and the legendary Adrian Sherwood delivering his remix of "UK All Stars In Dub ". There's a lot to get through on here. "London Dungeons Dub (Young Warrior remix - Son Of Jah Shaka)" brings more of the purist dub vibes back again, DJ Madd's remix of "Jah Warriors In Dub" is no doubt the most fierce modern vibe on here while "Nu Beginningz Dubwise (Mungos Hi Fi remix)" goes for the more smoky, low-slung vibes. It one Jah!

Review: There is nothing we enjoy more than new school reggae releases, despite them appearing to pop up very rarely these days. We were therefore overjoyed to find this exceptional selection of compositions on our shelves, courtesy of the magnificent Cultural Warriors alongside the legendary Horace Andy. To begin with 'A Little Bit Different' is a classic, driven by a smooth lead vocal presence, insightful lyricism and soulful dubwise production. It gets a bit more electronic on 'Money', as the classic 'Route Of All Evil' vocal is reworked into a futuristic dubstyle delight. This release also comes with a tonne of additional instrumental and dub mix extras, so be sure to check full the full tracklisting!

Review: As always with Moonshine Recordings, we are very excited to jump into this new release which once again gives us a very modern take on dubwise themes and reggae in general. D-Operation is the artist in question who heads up two exclusive remixes of 'Liberation', the first of which features Vale as an official 'Trumpet Version', combining potent basslines and marching drum-lines with powerful horn performance to spin any system. On the flip, Babe Roots and Don Fe give the track a much different feel, slowing everything down and focussing on haunting flute lines and powerful subs below for a much more ethereal vibe. Incredible stuff!
