Review: In which no fewer than 24 rock and indie classics get reworked for the dancefloor. Admirably, the mysterious V avoids the temptation to simply whack a 4/4 kickdrum under everything - in fact, many of the cuts could better be described as remixes or reworkings rather than simple re-edits. Inevitably, some of the resulting concoctions work better than others - and which you think that applies to may depend on your views on the original source material - but if you're looking for a way to drag non-house/disco lovers onto the floor, this collection should serve you well.

Review: Four tracks in a total of six mixes make up this latest EP from ever-prolific Serbian discomeister Tonbe. 'Never Let Me Go' is up first, blending late 70s/early 80s jazz-funk and contemporary pop influences and coming in vocal and dub flavas. There's a distinct pop feel, too, to the 80s-influenced 'New Vision' and 'Robbery In Progress' - both all bright analogue synths and lashings of cowbell - which just leaves us with the two rubs of 'So Real', which continues in the same 80s pop-leaning groove established by the two previous cuts and is available, again, with or without the female vocal.

Review: Two beautifully crafted breakbeat funk jams from party veterans Renegades Of Jazz. "Green Leaf Woman" takes a pinch of sixties psychedelia and blends it smoothly with Fatboy and Riva style big beat breaks. "Verano Del Corazon", meanwhile, looks to Cuba for inspiration. With warm vocal refrains, hip-shakingly loose percussion and a lovely lolloping double bass lick, it's ideal for any outdoor daytime bashes you've got lined up this season.

CTRL+S Edits Vol 3EXCLUSIVE
Review: Given the ubiquity of bog standard disco edits these days, it's always refreshing to hear a collection of reworks that does things differently. The first two installments of Tronik Youth's CTRL+S Edits series did just that, variously offering edits of new beat, new wave, Italo and obscure '80s alternative rock tracks. This third volume offers more left-of-centre tweaks, sensitively edited to provide maximum dancefloor enjoyment. Choose between the cacophonous percussion, woozy synths and rubbery bassline of skewed pop cut "Boat Rocker", the sludgy, slo-mo '80s weirdo rock of "Bunny Boiler" - replete with cosmic effects and Baldelli-ish wrong-speed vibes - and the tongue-in-cheek midtempo Italo silliness of "Roll & Rock".

Review: Israel's Eyal Goldman - or Funk Sinatra, if you prefer - tends to cast his re-edit net wider than most, and has been known to serve up dancefloor reworks of everyone from The Rolling Stones to Simon & Garfunkel, The Jam and Nick Cave. For this latest offering he turns his attention to the prince of doom himself, Leonard Cohen, with 'Lover Lover Not A Brother' biting 'Lover Lover Lover' and 'Fire By Who??' revisiting 'Who By Fire' (both culled from 1974's 'New Skin For The Old Ceremony' album), while 'Darker Than You Wanted' borrows from 2016's Johnny Cash-like 'You Want It Darker'.
