Review: Defected's ongoing House Masters series should be essential listening for anyone keen to discover more about the recording careers of some of the scene's most iconic producers. Certainly, this latest installment, chronicling NYC legend Todd Terry's finest moments, contains far more hits than misses. At 35 tracks deep, it's a bit of a beast, but features not only all of his best-known productions ("Weekend", "Can You Party", "I'll House You", "Bango (To The Batmobile)", his remix of Everything But The Girl's "Missing"), but also a swathe of lesser-known remixes (A slammin' version of Bizarre Inc's "I'm Gonna Get You"), Dubs (a brilliantly stripped-back version of Hardrive's "Voices Inside My House") and original productions (the hip-house era madness of Black Riot's "Warlock").

Review: While he may be a stone-cold legend, much of Todd Terry's recent work has been a little disappointing, to say the least. It's great to report, then, that he's back to his mesmerising best on this surprise release for Clone Royal Oak. While the picturesque, funk-fuelled "Rock That" - this booming, disco-fuelled bottom-end, Balearic keys and warm horns - is impressive, it's lead cut "Tonight" that hits home hardest. Boasting swinging, loose-limbed house beats, bouncy analogue bass and some superb hip-house era stabs and vocal cuts, it feels like a long-lost late '80s Terry classic given a warehouse party makeover. It's certainly worth the admission price on its own.

Review: It seems Iban Reus has a knack for revisiting classics and rebooting them with respect and creativity. Last year he gave us an INXS remake and now he's turned his hand to Todd Terry. Remixing a classic like "Jumpin" is no mean feat; with its bold piano hammers and brash cut-up string stabs, it's difficult to match Tezza's original. With a chugging percussive groove and focused mainroom feel, Iban's mastered the balance with ease and crafty-groove building skill. Very tasteful.

Review: Todd Terry's mid-90s version of disco-classic Musique's "Keep On Jumping" gets a huge overhaul on this expansive remix package from Terry's own InHouse imprint. With original Musique vocalist Jocelyn Brown's vocals to the fore, Tee's Freeze mix is a classic funky house delight, layered with pianos and jacking hats, while the "Thumpin RM" mix is a sped-up tour de force that uses hefty samples from the disco original. For a deeper extension, check out Tee's German and JM mixes, and producers/DJs should definitely jump on the previously unreleased acapella and bonus beats.
