Review: Staying true to its mandate of releasing killer underground techno, Dynamic Reflection drops this diverse compilation. The Plant Worker & DIAPO's "Grogrott" and RNGD's "Radiation" are both stripped back, linear grooves, while contributions from Deas and the Linear System's hypnotic tonal "Void Perspective" represent a deeper side to the Dynamic Reflection canon. Pyramidal Decode raises the tempo - and intensity level - on the cavernous "Optical Noise", where doubled-up claps underpin dubby builds. There is a different aesthetic at play on the muddy bass and dense kicks of Gabriel D'Or & Bordoy's "G13", while Korben Nice represents the classic Dynamic Reflection techno sound with the bruising, percussion and coruscating filters of "Orchestra".

Review: Laurent Garnier and Scan X's label does a great job in showcasing emerging and established talent, and this split release is no exception. The brilliantly named Return Of The Luddites deliver the raw electro-techno of "Scream Into The Darkness". In stark contrast, Detroit techno-inspired tracks also loom large, courtesy of Skatman's string-filled "Tribute To A Dancefloor" and Squal G's more ominous "Waiting 4U". Mirroring Garnier's own wide-ranging tastes, the release also features the call and response hip-hop/drum'n'bass crossover of Joaquim Plossu, Salem Focus and Phoebe Train's "Theory Of The Tide". Taking the tempo down, Yes Basketball's "Next" is a slowed down, bugged out beatsy track.

Review: As the matter-or-fact title makes clear, this expansive affair brings together a wealth of tracks from two of Luv Shack's most prolific and consistent artists, Jakobin and ROCTIV. The former steps up first with a trio of tracks. Of these, it's opener 'Drawan' - a deliciously trippy and mind-mangling slab of psychedelic house rich in TB-303 acid bass, fizzing electronics and ghostly chords - that most impresses, though IDM-goes-breakbeat bubbler 'Skulpt' and the deep and trippy 'Octagonal Tribe' are also excellent. ROCTIV drops four tracks, flitting between bass-heavy, acid-flecked breakbeat ('Frenezy', 'Living Art'), re-born early 90s progressive house/nu-disco fusion ('No More Room In Hell') and sub-heavy psychedelic sleaziness ('The Confidence').

Review: The second instalment of Len Faki's remixes see the storied techno producer tap his favourite artists to re-interpret his work. Luke Slater's Deep Heat take on "Shri Yantra" is redolent of his classic Planetary Assault Systems work, with firing percussion and dramatic break downs to the fore. In contrast, Amotik's version of "Make Me Scream" follows a heads-down approach, with haunting vocals wrapped into a bleep-heavy, rolling groove. In contrast, ANNA's remix of "Hymn" is a tranced out, big room track. At the other end of the spectrum, Modeselektor's interpretation of "Don't Be Stupid Day" is a moody electro stepper, led by waves of menacing low end.

Review: Ostensibly a response to techno being 'in such a sorry and predictable state', Full Pupp's latest compilation goes off in a number of wonderfully captivating tangents. Label owner Prins Thomas' "Mere Apokalypso" is a tripped-out groove, while his take on Synk's "Tool Mix" is an acid-laced chugger. In contrast, JaddajaddaPlay's "Bird No Bird" goes down a percussive route. Despite the title, techno does make an appearance. Blackbelt Engh Rhythm Combo's "Frydenlyn" is a rolling tribal affair, while trance influences bubble to the surface on Christian Engh's dubbed out "Khonsu" and Karolinski's high-paced, melodic "Slutt A Mase Eg Har Ikkje Spelt Pa Ei Veke".

Sirus Hood and Gui Wittckind deliver a collaborative powerhouse with "HOT!", while De Angelis makes a striking label debut with "FKING INC." delving into deep grooves and industry truths. Review: It's an exciting thing indeed to see the super consistent production talents of Vital Techniques landing on the legendary DJ EZ's Nuvolve imprint, unleashing three emotive bubblers for the dances to enjoy. First up, a dizzying display of synthetic mastery and fiery double drops as 'In My Head' takes the centre stage. From here, a more groove-inspired approach on 'Run It' as we face a sumptuous sweeping combination of grinding synthesisers and unpredictable drum crashes, before 'Show Me Your Love' takes hard hitting 4x4 drum punches and emotive vocal lines for a killer closer.

Review: Fresh from making his bow on Bordello a Parigi with the quirky (and rather good) 'Synthesizer Hits II' EP, Marc Pellerin AKA Panthera pops up on Melodize with another strong offering. Title track 'Hustle' is a bright, breezy and seriously colourful slab of synth-powered nu-disco joyousness - all Chris Lowe chords, jaunty melodies, sequenced Italo-disco bass and unfussy drums, while 'Western Union' is a more throbbing and pulsating slab of wall-of-sound Italo-disco with progressive trance flourishes. Lauer opts for a Pet Shop Boys-go-Balearic vibe on his rework of 'Hustle', while Endik Schroeder joins the dots between neo-trance and surging Italo-disco on a fine remix of 'Western Union'.

Review: Next up from eatmybeat, a vibrant collection of percussive-driven rollers from the one and only D-Nite, showcasing his crazy ability with some top level production skills. We open up with 'Ominous Arrival', a fluctuating combination of high energy rhythms and subtle vocal samples, followed by both the industrial synth thumps of 'Sine DNA' and arpeggio-lead soundscaping of 'Circular' to follow. From here we then move into the highly unique title track 'Ai Amor', a glorious roll through samba-style drum patterns and catchy vocal slices, followed by the bleeping synth sweeps of 'Amargo' to close off. Review: Running Back boss Gerd Janson has been a fan of Raphael Schon for some time. Last year, he reissued the German producer's 2021 breakthrough hit, 'Fiesta 2000', on the Misfit Melodies offshoot. Now he's gone further still, offering up an expansive EP of brand-new music by the producer, all of which is shot through with references to dance music's storied past. Our picks of a very strong bunch include the sparkling positivity of the 303 bass-powered 'Bearhit', the riff-happy retro-futurist smoothness of 'Do You Like That' - whose breakdowns and drops are suitably excitable - and the kaleidoscopic, near techno-tempo joy explosion that is 'Distant City Transport'. The more nu-disco and maximal house influenced 'Sometimes I Miss You' is also superb.

Review: Nine months on from the release of the throbbing and pulsating 'Zombie Dance' on Permanent Vacation, Zombies in Miami return to their Creatures of the Night label - the Mexican duo's first appearance on the imprint since 2022's fine collaboration with Lauer, 'Michelada Brothers'. On 'The Rhythm', the duo takes a different tack, dispensing with nods to Italo-disco in favour of weighty tribal house beats (think late '90s Junior Vasquez and Danny Tenaglia), restless electronic bass, echoing vocal snippets and mind-mangling effects. It's genuinely fantastic and comes backed with two tidy reworks: a pots-and-pans-percussion propelled dancefloor dub by Cani, and the sleazy, low slung and stretched-out 'Factory Setup' remix.

Review: It's no surprise that Baldo's "Ride the Night" has become a dance floor favourite. Drawing on acid and Italo influences that play out over a throbbing techno groove, it is the ultimate contemporary club track. Its stature poses a challenge for those whom Permanent Vacation have tasked to remix it, but each version succeeds in delivering a fresh perspective. Red Axes bring some industrial force and day glo psychedelia on their version. Alex Neri opts for a different approach, re-positioning the original amid flowing deep house textures. Jennifer Loveless' take follows a third alternative, as a pulsating bass supports dramatic builds and drops.

Review: 2024 was always going to be a year of surprises, and the latest release on Rekids is testament to that. Man Power hooks up with the Paris-based Louisahhh for an unexpected anthem in waiting. The title track is an expansive deep house track. At its heart is a pulsating bass combined with Louisahhh's freeform narrative about the state of the world. As befits such a modern classic, Rekids has commissioned Deetron to deliver three remixes. The dub version is a joyous UR-style deep techno version, while the main version follows a similar trajectory, powered by thunder claps and outer space tones. Keeping the audience guessing, Deetron also delivers a 'Drum & Bass' version that focuses on high-paced techno, while the 'Bleep Tool' ends the release to the sound of glistening tonal bliss.
