Something Good EP
Late Night Vibes - (5:58) 122 BPM Hot
Right Place - (5:46) 120 BPM
Something Good - (5:16) 123 BPM
Review: St Petersburg's own disco don Sunner Soul returns with three more predictably high-calibre slices of contemporary disco. The EP opens with the sumptuous, lounge-y and aptly titled 'Late Night Vibes' with its dreamy female vocal, chorus'd "oohs" and lavish strings. 'Right Place' then joins the dots between deep house, filter disco and 80s boogie in a most pleasing fashion, before finally we come to the slightly housier 'Something Good' with its rich, warm bassline and sampled chunks of interview dialogue with the mighty Tupac. What the EP doesn't have, you might argue, is any obvious peaktime calls to the dancefloor, but that's a good thing... this is for the headz!

Power Of One (extended mix) - (6:48) 123 BPM Hot
Review: Glitterbox Recordings strikes gold again with "Power of One," a powerhouse collaboration between Chicago house legend Kelly G. and the unmistakable vocals of Candi Staton. This release marks a meeting of titans, blending Kelly G.'s infectious productions with Staton's legendary gospel-soul voice. "Power of One" departs from the usual high-octane energy of Glitterbox releases. Instead, it simmers with a slow-burning funk groove, allowing space for Staton's vocals to take center stage. Kelly G.'s masterful production underpins the track, with infectious basslines and tasteful keyboard flourishes creating a perfect bed for Staton's soulful delivery.

Review: In the vibrant world of disco revival, Fool's Paradise stands as a beacon, resurrecting the electrifying spirit of New York's dance floors with a modern twist. Their latest offering, "Do It To The Music" by Raw Silk, reimagined by UK producer Michael Gray, is a perfect example of this ethos. Here, Michael Gray understands the magic of the 1982 original. He doesn't attempt to erase its essence, but rather polishes it with his signature production magic. The iconic vocals remain, floating effortlessly over a foundation of soulful grooves and shimmering synths. The tempo gets a respectful nudge, propelling the energy without losing the original's laid-back charm. His rework serves as a genuine tribute to the original, infused with his distinctive style characterized by flair and a groove-laden, funk-inspired resonance. Whether you're looking for a nostalgic throwback or a fresh take on a classic, "Do It To The Music" (Michael Gray Remix) delivers.

Review: Glitterbox knows how to throw a party, and "Glitterbox Archives Vol 4" proves it once again. This EP collects four previously unreleased, dancefloor-tested gems, each offering a unique flavour of the label's signature sound. Kicking off with a bang is The Shapeshifters' "Try My Love (On For Size) (The Rub Dub)". This extended version of the already infectious disco anthem dives deeper into its groove, layering dubby effects and pulsating basslines that will have you moving right away. Next up, Michael Gray and Kelli Sae's "You're Gonna Make Me Dub Somebody Else" takes things down a notch. The "dub" moniker lives up to its name, stripping away some of the original's funk elements and emphasizing the hypnotic rhythm section. Kelli Sae's sultry vocals remain captivating, while the dub treatment creates a more introspective and atmospheric aura. Art Of Tones & Inaya Day's "Give My Love (Piano Dub)" is a revelation. This stripped-down version showcases the song's beautiful piano melody and Inaya Day's powerful vocals in a whole new light. Rounding out the EP is Qwestlife's "Hit It Off (Babert Remix)". Italian house maestro Babert injects his signature energy into the track, transforming it into a driving house anthem. Teni Tinks' vocals are chopped and looped, adding a playful touch to the infectious groove. This one is sure to get the crowd moving and leave them wanting more. A sparkly feast for disco devotees!

Review: Bondax's "Journey" on Future Disco isn't just an album title, it's an experience. This LP marks a decade in the game for the UK dance duo, and "Journey" reflects that beautifully. It's a blend of their signature sounds with fresh influences, all wrapped in a future-disco sheen. The album kicks off with the previously-released banger "Don't Want It," setting the pace with driving rhythms and those classic Bondax synths. Tracks like "I Only Have You" showcase their versatility, featuring smooth vocals from Eno Williams that blend seamlessly with their sonic palette. A true highlight is "Fade" featuring SHELLS. Flanging guitars and entrancing beats create a mesmerizing soundscape, perfectly embodying the album's exploration of diverse sounds. "Yabaal to London" is another winner, a funky fusion of 80s disco and modern production with the Dur-Dur Band. It's impossible not to move to this one. It's a genre-bending album that pays homage to disco's roots while offering a fresh, modern take. Packed with infectious beats, captivating vocals, and stellar production, this album is a guaranteed dance floor filler and a must-listen for fans of electronic music with a touch of nostalgia.

The Breeze (original mix) - (7:54) 124 BPM
Review: Kerri Chandler continues to mine the untapped depths of his musical vaults and here serves up a third dose of previously unreleased gems. Chandler first offers up 'Let It (Give Me Back My Love)', a typically joyful, hip-swinging and effortlessly groovy chunk of vocal deep house featuring Abbie Lee, before reaching for fluid piano motifs, super-soulful male vocals (possibly his own) and Kenny Dope style broken house beats on 'Another Dawn'. 'The Bassline (Kerri's Dark Mix)' is a moody, percussive and infectious slab of early morning house, while 'The Breeze (Original Mix)' is a drum machine driven box jam that deftly showcases Chandler's immense skill as a beat programmer.

Review: The legendary Kerri Chandler and his Kaoz Theory label (ode to that priceless 1998 album) turns in a remix and dub package of Antonio Deep Scarano & Toshi's "Kuyo (In Everything)". For the uninitiated ADS is an Italian house music industry man known for his collaborative streak - hooking up with vocalist Toshi for a second time here. With the Kerri Chandler touch, the duo's infectious single gets a full remix treatment that across the board draws upon the purest of house sentiments, meant for warm and worldly times, taking in '90s new age and piano house with percussion, drum machines and basslines to boot. Chandler of course goes large but not OTT in his vocal and dub mixes, next to a pumping warehouse version by Antony Reale, Pietro Nicosia's clubby tribalisms and Salvatore Oppio's barqoue remake too!

Review: Over the last few years, Martin 'Atjazz' Iveson has spent a fair amount of time mentoring Peacey, a young producer with oodles of talent. That much is proved by the rising star's expansive debut album, a superb 16-track set that combines sizzling colo cuts with a string of inspired collaborations. The Edinburgh-based artist sets his stall out via the luscious horn arrangements and immersive ambient electronics of 'Play It By Ear', before drifting between head-nodding R&B loveliness (Oveous hook-up 'Love In The Forest'), sensual and seductive, soul-flecked deep house ('Hold Me Back' with Clyde and Atjazz), mid-tempo boogie-soul ('Playground' with Rona Ray), dubby and dreamy downtempo grooves ('Last Night's Dream'), deep and techy, spoken word-sporting dancefloor workouts ('Culture Bandit' with Vanessa Hidary) and jazz-funk influenced excellence (LaRoye collab 'In The Distance').

Review: Nick Curly showcases his mastery of the underground house scene with the "Come Right Back" EP, released through Cécille Records! Hailing from Mannheim, Germany, Curly's influence spans two decades, with his imprint 8bit shaping the city's distinct sound. "Come Right Back" kicks off the EP with Curly's trademark swinging drum groove, fused with a filtered disco loop and choppy stabs, crafting a dance floor-focused workout. On "Arkum", Curly delves into deeper, darker realms, blending organic percussion and gritty bass stabs with tension-building strings and spoken word vocal chops, resulting in a loop-driven, subtly unfurling peak-time tool with its subtle intricacies.

Review: Wallace's first outing on Rhythm Section International was genuinely brilliant, so hopes are naturally high for the rising star's sequel. Check first deep, dubby and driving title track 'Papertrip', where echoing, dub techno style motifs, restless piano riffs and infectious hand percussion hits rise above a kick-drum-driven beat and a jazzy bassline, before admiring the ragga vocal-sampling speed garage revivalism of 'BB' (note the nods to mid-90s MK and a genuinely weighty bassline). 'The Function' joins the dots between skippy US garage rhythms and ultra-deep, dubbed-out house, while 'Backwaters' adds sunrise-ready sounds and psychedelic electronics to another deep, skippy and sub-heavy house groove.

The track is a disco house fusion, pulsing with a classic energy. Jamie xx expertly weaves a sample of Keni Burke's "Let Somebody Love You" into the production, creating a sense of nostalgic familiarity. Review: D'EAUPE, the forward-thinking record label spearheaded by electronic music duo Shermanology, unveils a stacked remix package for their previous Roots EP. Featuring a impressive lineup of artists, each naturally brings a twist of style to the original numbers. Rene Amesz leads the charge with his pumping remix of "Jabula", blending Verseless & King Her's vocals with some heaving beats. Hector Couto pulls out the filter sweep in his remix of "Touch" while SYREETA's dubbed-out breakage of "Jabula" offers a fresh perspective with a flow of dynamic house rhythms and heavy bass weight undertow. WZA's club mix of "Hijos De La Noche" turns the saw waves and garage vibes up to 10 leaving Chico Rose's reimagining of "Coco Loco" to hold down a super solid and techy groove. Sherminated.

Release Yourself - (5:54) 130 BPM
Review: Fresh from outings on 8Bit and Dirtybird, Audiojack return to the label they established way back in 2010, Gruuv. In keeping with the Yorkshire-raised duo's outings on the imprint, it's a tightly focused and club ready two-tracker. First up is 'Somebody', a rumbling, body-moving slab of 1997 speed garage revivalism - all Armand Van Helden 'dark garage' bass, dark synth strings, echoing vocal snippets and chunky house drums - which sounds like a genuine peak-time anthem in the making. They continue the "arms aloft" vibes on the similarly large title track, 'Release Yourself', which mixes vintage UK garage influences with nods to contemporaneous big room NYC house sounds.

Review: Volume 7 in the series but for once we can't really say "you should know what to expect by now" because what this compilation really goes to show is just what an eclectic and diverse camp the long-running Manchester label has become, with tracks on 'Paper Cuts #7' ranging from the near-ambient Balearica of Aniso Tropics' opener 'Apricot Memorex' to the self-explanatory synth-y stylings of La Guardia de la Luz's 'Trance Aleman de los 90s' via the uptempo strut of Jahn Solo's 'Disco'. So all we can really do is point you in the direction of some standout cuts, which for this reviewer would include D.S.D's luscious 'Just Can't Stop' and Benny Pitcher's 'Transatlantic Motion', which is like a little musical nod to the days when Paper comps were called 'Splinter'.

Review: Disco classic "There But For The Grace of God" by Fire Island featuring Love Nelson gets a fresh lease on life with a new remix by house music expert Alan Dixon on the 4 To The Floor label. This reimagining breathes new energy into the original track while staying true to its soulful core. Love Nelson's iconic vocals remain the centerpiece, soaring effortlessly above a foundation of driving bass and crisp percussion. Dixon's masterful touch adds a contemporary twist with subtle electronic flourishes and a pulsating groove that keeps the dancefloor hypnotized.

Review: Following years spent flitting between labels including Toy Tonics and Razor N Tape Reserve, COEO make their bow on Shall Not Fade. In keeping with the Bristol label's approach to digital releases, it's an expansive and action-packed affair. Title track 'Planet Earth' is one of the Munich-based duo's more forthright cuts to date - a thrusting, bongo-laden techno tempo rave workout propelled forwards by an insanely good (and rubbery) electronic bassline and psychedelic acid lines aplenty - while 'Satellite Bay' sounds like a cross between early '90s synth-pop, Kraftwerk and Euro-dance. Elsewhere, 'Rush Hour' gloriously joins the dots between hip-house, vintage MK productions and the Pet Shop Boys' Relentless' album; 'Kawasaki Racing Club' combines breakbeats and early UK progressive house sounds; and 'The Stage Is Yours' is a head-nodding, midtempo acid breaks affair.

Review: Following a two-year gap in which he focused on his House Puff and Rutilence labels, Parisian house stalwart DJ Steaw returns to Kerri Chandler's Kaoz Theory imprint. The three original cuts on show are prime Steaw: rock-solid, high-grade house workouts full of audible nods to the halcyon days of US house in the nineties and early noughties. The headline attraction is 'Get Back To The Fonk', a bumpin', spacey and tactile chunk of peak-time ready deep house haziness blessed with plenty of percussive funk. Kaoz Theory regular Josh Buttler remixes, opting for a more loose-limbed rhythm track, echoing melodic snippets and cut-up, garage-style vocal samples. Elsewhere, 'In My House' is an organ and synth-sax-sporting slab of '90s New Jersey nostalgia and 'Don't Stop' is gently acid-flecked deep house hypnotism.

Review: New York's Sub-Urban Records takes us on a journey of soulful house with the "Forever (Michael Gray Remix)" by Key To Life featuring Sabrina Johnston. Gray's signature touch is evident throughout. The remix takes the original's foundation and builds upon it with a deeper, groovier bassline. House heads will appreciate the subtle yet infectious percussive elements that propel the track forward. Sabrina Johnston's vocals remain the centerpiece, soaring effortlessly above the music. This remix is a perfect example of soulful house excellence. It stays true to the original's sentiment while offering a fresh, club-ready interpretation.

Review: Amentec have done a great job in assembling this top level collection of new school breakbeat action, welcoming no less than 14 artists inside across 13 hard hitting creations. The exciting thing about the project is that it leaves no breaks-inspired stone unturned, featuring the likes of Sound Synthesis, Inkipak, DAWL, Flatliner and more. From the intense, arcade style arrangements of Sub Oscillator's 'Ketzer' remix from Difool, to the more abstract acidity of Bobo's bulging 'Club Proxima', we see such an exciting range on display. Our highlights therefore have to include both the classy club-ready bops of Ova Doce's 'Keep On', next to the cloud-lining euphoria of MOY's 'Jovian Sunrise'. A truly top quality collection.

Review: Orange Muse's "Keep The Funk Alive" gets a fresh rework by house music veterans Jazz-N-Groove on Soulfuric Deep. The Primetime Mix stays true to the original's funky spirit, featuring a delicious bassline and pulsating synths that weave through the soundscape. However, Jazz-N-Groove injects some modern energy with updated percussion that creates a spacious club feel, perfect for getting bodies moving. Fans of house music with a touch of old-school funk, this track is a must-hear.

Review: The Take It Easy label returns with a red hot one that features a Bugsy 'ReDrum' of Wema's 'Kiherehere' cut. The original artists are a five-piece Tanzanian outfit founded on community and they have a global approach to sound that plays out here. In Bugsy's hands, it becomes a club-ready cut that fuses house and techno with the original's traditional Tanzanian instrumentals and Afro-Latin rhythms. Add in a fiery vocal and the sort of unrelenting drum funk that sends crowds mad and you have another standout from this fledgling label.

Review: Back in the late 1990s, German producers Jorge Henze and Jerome Isma-Ae released a string of now sought-after 12-inch singles as ACME. 'Soul of Life', from 1998, is one of their most in-demand EPs - hence this belated digital reissue. What makes the three-track collection so unique is its incorporation of speed garage (as it was then called) elements alongside contemporaneous house and tech-house sounds. This hybrid sound is best exemplified by the skipping, dubby and glassy-eyed 'Soul of Life I', though the more melodious, deep house influenced 'Soul of Life II' - all saucer-eyed pads, tactile organ riffs and smooth grooves - is almost as impressive. 'Soul of Life III', the EP's final variation, opts for a Grant Nelson style late '90s 4/4 UK garage flex.

Review: Nine months on from the release of the throbbing and pulsating 'Zombie Dance' on Permanent Vacation, Zombies in Miami return to their Creatures of the Night label - the Mexican duo's first appearance on the imprint since 2022's fine collaboration with Lauer, 'Michelada Brothers'. On 'The Rhythm', the duo takes a different tack, dispensing with nods to Italo-disco in favour of weighty tribal house beats (think late '90s Junior Vasquez and Danny Tenaglia), restless electronic bass, echoing vocal snippets and mind-mangling effects. It's genuinely fantastic and comes backed with two tidy reworks: a pots-and-pans-percussion propelled dancefloor dub by Cani, and the sleazy, low slung and stretched-out 'Factory Setup' remix.

Body Jerkin' (Disco mix) - (5:37) 129 BPM
Review: Two Chi-town veterans scene join forces with predictably fine results that are served up in three quite different mixes. In its Original form, 'Body Jerkin' is a disco-house paean to the delights of the dancefloor with a full vocal from Everett, live-sounding hand percussion and naggingly familiar disco strings. The Chicago Mix kicks much harder from the off with rock-solid 4/4s, but almost immediately takes a far jazzier turn with meandering, wigged-out keys, Everett getting his scat on and horns joining the party around the three-minute mark. And then there's the Disco Mix, which opts for a more 70s-ish sound palette but takes a looping, cut-up approach. All three are eminently playable but the Chicago Mix is the one for the proverbial 'heads'.

It's Haaaat EP - (5:23) 131 BPM Hot
Review: Columbian producer Ciclo returns to Snatch! with three stonking club cuts in a fairly 'traditional' house vein (and that's definitely not a complaint, BTW). Opener 'From The Roots' tops a solid rolling backbeat and M1-ish organ parps with the acapella of Kings Of Tomorrow's 'So Alive' (as also sampled by Kanye West for 'Low Lights'). The slightly pacier 'House Of Gang' is a rollicking little disco-houser with an energy-infusing walking bassline, almost Wild Pitch-y stabs and a full female vocal, while finally 'It's Haaaat' itself is a chunkier affair with a cut-up, Sneak-y kinda feel. Three very solid bullets for your Saturday night disco machine gun!

Review: Get Physical Music revives its Classics series with a nostalgic trip into its essential archives, kicking off with Chelonis R. Jones' timeless anthem "Deer In The Headlights" originally released back in in 2005 (19 years ago omg!). Remixed by electronic luminaries DJ Hell and Radio Slave, this reissue breathes new life into Jones' haunting masterpiece. The Dub Mix of "Deer In The Headlights" captivates with its moody, low-slung vibe, while DJ Hell's rendition infuses brain-frying synths and sleazy vocals, echoing his electroclash roots. On the flip, Radio Slave's remix delivers unrelenting techno pressure, with insistent synth loops and dark atmospheres. A solid revival here, this reissue not only appeals to new audiences but also reignites the passion of those who experienced these tracks firsthand, reaffirming their timeless appeal.

The Berlin-based producer has more than proved his credentials of late, so it's no surprise to find that the two tracks on show are both high-quality. First up is title track 'Deep Waves', a gorgeously warming, tactile and sunny slab of nostalgic Italo-house revivalism piled high with jazzy bass, colourful chords and sparkling piano motifs. On 'Down The Line', Olivotto delivers another musically rich and positive slab of retro-futurist deep house that sounds like a long lost workout from 1992.

Review: Professor Oz's latest release on Rezpektiva isn't your average album. It's a treasure trove of unearthed gems, a 8 tracks compilation showcasing the French producer's visionary work from 1986 to 1995. Entitled "The Lost Experiments," these previously unreleased tracks feel remarkably fresh despite their age. Remastered from the original DAT tapes, the album brims with infectious energy. Professor Oz, a self-proclaimed "sonic wizard," weaves dusty breakbeats and proto-techno grooves into a heady concoction. Tribal drumming and swirling, trance-like synths add a touch of the exotic, while the album's progressive song structures and pulsating acid basslines ensure it remains firmly rooted in dancefloor territory. These tracks prove that even decades later, Oz's forward-thinking sound and genre-bending production still feel innovative and exciting.

Review: Leeds label Shades of Sound seem obsessed with serving up melodious and colourful music tailor-made for sunny days and humid dancing at dusk. They're at it again on 'Disco Archipalego', a bold and entertaining label debut courtesy of Sydney producer Arp Decco. There three typically sparkling and kaleidoscopic original tracks on display: the mid-tempo, synth strings-laden Balearic piano house-meets-Reverso 68 cheeriness of 'Disco Archipalego', the synth solo sporting piano house-with-acid-bass flex of 'New Life', and the gorgeous 'Breeze', whose snaking sax solos, joyous melodious and chunky TB-303 bassline create a suitably loved-up mood. 'Tech Support' turn 'New Life' into an acid-flecked, sunrise-ready breakbeat house gem, before Joe Morris rounds off a fine EP by giving 'Breeze' a nostalgic, Balearic house-goes-breakbeat re-fix.

Bad Decisions EP
Bad Decisions - (6:22) 128 BPM
All Got Game - (5:56) 126 BPM
Review: Only the third release here from DKOI - the name stands for 'Different Kinds of Idiots' - a fledgling label headed up by a pair of Glaswegian DJ/producers, Tiptoes and Bowfingers. For DKOI003 they've recruited a fellow Scot with a much longer track record, Milton Jackson, who serves up a brace of very fine cuts. 'Bad Decisions', with its cut-up vox, organ parps and monster of a bassline, brings the retro UK garage vibes, while the accompanying 'All Got Game' is another garage-leaning affair that sports a sampled "they all got game, they all complain" rap vocal and some great stabby keys. More like this, please!

Review: Mexican label Short Attention have just a handful of vinyl releases to their name and now step out into the digital arena for the very first time. Like their previous wax outings, SAD001 is a Various Artists offering and highly eclectic in style, ranging from DJ Dreamer's pacey, almost juke-ish house opener with its nostalgically rave-y female vocal, via Groove Selecta's deep and mellow 'Bamboo', to the more melodic stylings of Vantane's 'Hommage to John', synth-y Detroit-inspired techno from Daemian and WhoreHouse Sequences and the ruff 'n' raw breakbeat house of Kanyalang!'s 'Destroyer Of Worlds'. Always good to support new labels, so get involved!

Tol'ko Ya EP
Tol'ko Ya - (6:46) 105 BPM Hot
Dubby - (5:50) 99 BPM
Tol'ko Ya (TSDC remix) - (5:25) 115 BPM
Review: Although he's been operative since the start of the noughties, Unclepasha only has a handful of solo EPs to his name - most notably on London label Nang. Here the Russian producer pops up on Vintage Music, an imprint founded by his fellow countryman Sunner Soul back in 2010. What's on offer are, we think, kind of edits-not-edits - tracks that make extensive use of elements of forgotten old cuts, but with added beats and instrumentation. Title track 'Tol'ko Ya' blurs the boundaries between seductive, low-slung dub-disco, swamp funk and nu-disco, while 'Dubby' lives up to its name by properly dubbing out and beefing up a percussion-rich jam of unknown origin. To round things off, TSDC reworks 'Tol'ko Ya', giving it a filter-heavy, dub-flecked disco-house feel.

Review: Simma Black label boss ' Low Steppa and Crusy join forces once again on Defected Records' "Together" series, this time with "Bullerengue," a track that injects traditional Colombian and Panamanian sounds into the label's signature club-ready formula. Inspired by the vibrant rhythms of Bullerengue music, the track seamlessly blends driving house beats with captivating vocal samples. These vocal snippets, likely sourced from traditional recordings, add a layer of authenticity and cultural richness to the electronic soundscape.

Cry No More, The Rain
Toronto Hustle & Sean Roman - "The Rain" - (6:12) 122 BPM
Sean Roman - "Cry No More" - (5:56) 126 BPM Hot
Review: Two stalwarts of the Toronto house scene join forces with unsurprisingly classy results. Opener 'The Rain' is a stompy affair defined primarily by its prominent handclaps and gospel-style vocal: it's got energy to spare and if your feet aren't tapping to this, then you might want to double-check that you've actually got any. But it's 'Cry No More' that's the real killer, being a deep, rolling house workout sporting jazzy keys and two separate, sampled vocals: one a timestretched bite from The Supreme Jubilees' 1979 soul jam 'It'll All Be Over', the other male and spoken. Simply listing the elements involved doesn't really convey just what a quality cut this is, though, so check this one for sure!

Re Bulele EP

Re Bulele (feat Fox Meropa) - (8:21) 123 BPM
Re Bulele (FNX Omar remix feat Fox Meropa) - (6:18) 121 BPM
Review: Aroop Roy serves up two new slices of his trademark globally-inspired deep house. 'Re Bulele' (feat Fox Meropa) is, in its Original form, a lilting affair with rolling beats and a simple electronic bassline topped with a smooth, melodic, Afro-style male vocal and, as the track progresses, sweeping synth washes. The accompanying FNX Omar Remix is slightly darker and more ominous in feel, with the track's electronic elements brought further to the fore and the vocal applied more sparingly, while the EP's completed by 'Mama Mwana', which has a similarly gentle, laidback feel to the title track but is more organic in its instrumentation.

Review: There's a hint in the title here, as theBasement Discos serve up a collection of 20 house tracks with the ivories firmly front and centre. But while the old Joanna might be the thread that ties it all together, there's still plenty of variety on offer, from sprightly jazz-house workouts like AFAMoo's 'The Art Of Jazz' to deep house jams like A Naranjo's 'What Lies To Head' and Foot-Loose's 'Weekend'-biting disco-houser 'LA Piano Mood'. It's not all nostalgic homages to the hands-in-the-air anthems of the early 90s, in other words - though naturally there are plenty of those as well, with Piem's '4Real' one clear standout in that department. Of course, if you're not a fan of piano-based house, it's probably not the album for you... otherwise the 'Paradise' part of the title is entirely justified, nuff said!

Lex (Athens) & Dennis Liber - "No Time For Formalities" - (6:16) 128 BPM
Review: Almost two years on from his last appearance on the label - a collaborative release alongside German drummer, percussionist and producer Locke - Athenian veteran Lex returns to Delusions of grandeur. This time round it's a nominally a solo mission, though Locke and Dennis Liber do appear as featured collaborators on selected tracks. Our pick of a very strong bunch is 'Without You', a hypnotic and locked-in acid house roller full of mind-mangling TB-303 motifs, jazzy Rhodes licks and spacey chords, though the deep and funky, disco and jazz-funk tinged 'Strip Town' is almost as good. Locke and Guto Fernandez hook-up 'Purity' is a fine vocal number that sits somewhere between percussive Latin house and nu-disco, while Dennis Liber collaboration 'No Time For Formalities' sounds like a long-lost piano house track from 1988.

Daunia Disko (original mix) - (4:05) 100 BPM Hot
Daunia Disko (Of Norway version) - (6:10) 123 BPM
Review: Last month, Connaisseur dropped a label debut from Cheema, an Italian DJ/producer renowned from "bringing the cultural traditions of Puglia to the club". We're not particularly well read on what those cultural traditions may be, but that EP was very good - as is this speedy sequel. Rooted in the cosmic disco tradition, 'Daunia Disko' is a head-nodding stroll through 100 BPM electronic disco pastures rich in hip-hop style breaks, razor-sharp acid bass, clipped guitar licks, saucer-eyed female vocal snippets and mind-mangling electronics. It's infectious and addictive in the best possible way. The accompanying remix is an altogether sweatier and more celebratory proposition, as Of Norway (Oslo twosome Vegard Wolf Dyvik and Carl Christian Streenstrup) re-imagine the track as a funky, acid-flecked slab of nostalgic piano house insanity.

Work It Out - (6:08) 126 BPM
Review: The Italian production duo Mattei & Omich, alongside their Re-Tide project partner Andrea Prezioso, lands on Fool's Paradise Records with the infectious "Give Me Your Love" EP. This two-track offering is a shot of pure dance-floor energy, infused with the soulful vocals of Liverpool's rising star, Katy Alex. The title track, "Give Me Your Love," is a captivating fusion of funk and disco. Katy Alex's irresistibly alluring voice takes center stage, weaving through a bed of pulsating basslines, shimmering keys, and vibrant synth stabs. The infectious groove pays homage to the golden era of 80s dance music, guaranteed to get bodies moving on any dance floor. "Work It Out," takes things up a notch, transforming into a peak-time disco house anthem. A driving bassline and vibrant string arrangements lay the foundation for Katy Alex's sweet vocals, further amping up the energy. This is a surefire floor-filler, perfect for those late-night dance sessions.
