Review: Iconic anthem alert!! The legendary BT unlocks his genre defining classic 'Flaming June' for Black Hole recordings. First realised back in '97 (for many considered the golden era of trance) and without doubt his biggest ever single, it gets an exciting modern day twist from a plethora of fine talent. Heading up the pack is Paul Van Dyk with a typically well polished production fuelled by a heavy acid line and the famous hooked unleashed in the break. With a melody like this, you can't do much wrong with Gareth Wyn and Fred Baker both adding their subtle styles respectively. Completing the package (and our pick of the bunch) is Anjunadeep duo Jaytech & James Grant.

Review: Although originally starting out as an experimental electronica band, a subsequent early track from the San Francisco act went on to be snapped up by none other than Tiesto... and the rest as they say is history. Having had a close affinity with the Black Hole label over the past 10 years Mavie Marcos and Josh Gabriel, what better home for their latest single 'Promises'. Trademark emotive beauty and impeccable songwriting once again shines through above all else, with the Dutch label selecting some fine remix talent in the form of Kris O'Neil, Adam Sheridan, and our two favourites from Marco V and Richard Durand.. This weeks essential.

One of the long-standing pioneers of trance is back to his very best, featuring the enchanting vocals of Clare Stagg. Review: The later half of 2012 has seen trance legend Solarstone really pick up the pace again. Pushing things forward with his label group, releasing some of his finest singles in recent times, and now this brilliant compilation to round things off perfectly. Compiled by the man himself with two discs (one mixed by Orkidea), 'Pure Trance' does what it says on the box, showcasing all corners of the genre. Highlights across the 30 tracks include; Temple One 'In Her Eyes', Ronski Speeds mix of 'Euphonia', and Michael Cassette's remix of Orkidea 'Sun Dow'. There is of course plenty of showings from Solarstone himself.. You need this in your life!

The Theme
The Theme - (6:55) 132 BPM Hot
The Theme (edit) - (4:25) 132 BPM
Review: Monster refix of Jurgen Vries 'The Theme' from German duo Cosmic Gate, who are unquestionably one of the most iconic and respected production forces in the world of trance, with Nic Chagall and Bossi responsible for classics like 'Not Enough Time', 'Analog Feel' and 'FAV' amongst countless others. For their biggest release in some time they tackle the crossover smash from Darren Tate with an uber slick cutting edge backbone and the most epic of breakdowns firing it straight back to the front of box.. This is an absolute essential.

Review: Cosmic Gate are back with a bang, and for their comeback they go head to head with Arnej, resulting in quite possibly the biggest tune of the year thus far. The remixes come big, bad, and heavy with our favourite being laid down by Stoneface & Terminal, while Arnej goes alone under his 8 Wonders guise for a uber fresh alternative. Completing the package is Alex O'Rion with the aptly titled 'Bigger Room Edit'. With everyone from PvD to Armin on this, it's an essential for the months ahead!

Review: Andain are without question one of the best songwriting teams in electronic music, with their lyrics and music being able to translate to pretty much ever genre. From early singles 'Summer Calling' and the classic ' Beautiful Things' (Gabriel & Dresden mix) they have built and affinity with Black Hole, which continues to this day. 'Turn Up The Sound' is the latest from their most recent artist album and as always comes packed with a Tyson like punch of remixes. Tristan Garner goes all out on his thumping peak-time cut which will cause any floor to erupt, while G&D are back to recreate the magic of their biggest single to date.. and do so pretty damn well. This is real music, which the likes of Armin are going mad for!!

Review: Miami based George Acosta has steadily risen over the past few years to become one of Americas leading trance exports. Alongside his close relationship with Black Hole, he also heads up his own successful label Aco Music. 'Visions Beyond Expressions' is his second artist album, and it's an absolute cracker. 14 tracks winding their way through progressive, house, and uplifting moods with some simply stunning vocal appearances, most notably on 'Break Me Down', 'Falling Deep' and 'The Way She Loves'. A solid standout album that is sure to catapult Acosta to dizzier heights.

Save The Day (Myon & Shane 54 Summer Of Love radio edit) - (3:42) 134 BPM
Review: There is a massive difference between a release filling remix, and a showstopper of a remix. For the alternate cut to take the shine off the original track, it takes allot.. but one duo who manage to do just that on each and every release is Hungarian pairing Myon & Shane54. The Anjunabeat and Armada regulars head over to Black Hole and bring their stunning 'Summer of Love' flair to Aruna's big vocal moment 'Save The Day'. Packed full of emotion, this is a wonderful uplifting-meets-progressive track which stands out a mile from every other track in its field. Big crossover potential on this too, so jump on it early!!

Review: The trance talent in Russia continues to flourish and impress as Moscow based duo Aurosonic lock horns with Australia's upcoming star Ange on 'Without You'. Early support came flying straight in from the likes of Markus Schulz, which is no surprise as this sheer quality shines through in an instant. The Original 2008 version is still a winner, however their fresh '11 cut is where it's really at, with a richer sound and more in-depth melodies it is met with an equally 'on the money' cut from Smart Apes... Solid release!

Review: We have been treated to fresh treats from Belgium's Jonas Stuer on a weekly basis of late, and there is no let up as the real highlight from his 'Tales' series finally lands. Featuring American DJ/songstress Jennifer Rene on vocals, 'Still I Want It' is a light and hooky progressive track that will warm any floor, while on the remix Simon Steur strips it back with a simplistic techy mix that keeps rolling and building to hair raising big riff break, making it a workable tune in house sets as well.. A sing-along moment that you need to be across.

Review: Silver surfer trance master Solarstone returns to Tiesto' Black Hole label with Island, a new studio album that's right on time following a succession of hash-inspired LPs and last year's One. Maintaining his quality form in tracks like "Take Me On Your Flight (Island version)" with its sweet vocal, slightly left of field keys and techy breakdowns, Solarstone proves once again he's a master of the trace craft. With exotic breakbeats and neo classical feedback making it into "Frontier" (featuring the venerable Super-Frog Saves Tokyo & Ian Urbina), tribal themes and oriental motifs, alongside baerlic licks of guitar in "Summer Fills The Sky" coalesce into a soundtrack of grandeur and grace when its main theme hits. For the more contemplative numbers look to "Tied" and "Twilight" with touches of folk, melancholic pop and two stepping rhythms defining "Heal My Broken Heart" - and with more to be discovered, Island, by a country mile, is one 2020s best trance releases. Life's a beach.

Review: The latest single to be lifted from Dutchman Alex O'Rions acclaimed artist album 'The Bigger Room', and it just so happens to be one of our personal favs 'Craters In The Moon'. A melody to melt the coldest of souls, Alex's depth of sound is showcased in its fullest here. On hand to spread the mix wider is label mate Richard Durand, on his typically destructive tech trance tip. While in contrast Thomas Coastline provides a beautifully warm soundscape that will quite simply rock it, whenever and wherever it's dropped!

Review: Something very special here (as you'd expect) from San Francisco songstress Andain. Once again capturing the true essence of trance, built around her spellbinding lyrics and emotive tones. The Album Version (although brilliant) is perhaps a little too leftfield to drop in a club set, hence the need for Zetandel to turn in a stunning 'Chillout' mix that will add a beautifully uplifting layer amongst the euphoria and beats, and sound even better on the terraces of Ibiza.. Which it will no doubt be sticking around to soundtrack this summer.. Get on it early!

Review: Shockingly this is Brazilian Danilo Ercole's debut on Black Hole, a label that seems so perfect for his unique sound that has garnered the support of everyone from Armin, to Emery over the past couple of years. Featuring a catchy topline from Roberta Harrison, which is the backbone of 'Meet You Where You Are', his blend of progressive and tech are met with a fidgety electro bass-line and soaring evolving lead. Ryan Mendoza leads the charge on the remixes with a housier cut which we feel nails the arrangement and will have the biggest crowd reaction, and has a more dynamic genre range. On the flipside, if you are after something deeper head straight for the Amex mix.

Quondam - (6:30) 134 BPM
Review: Fast-rising Georgian producer Neura follows collaborations with Roger Shah, and releases on Musical Madness, Armada, and Magic Island with this killer standout EP on Black Hole. 'The Rhythm' is dark and dramatic, with a throbbing bottom end and chugging percussion. If you like your prog with that little bit of attitude then this needs to be in your wallet. 'Quondam' has an equally theatrical break, that will sound amazing in big rooms and carries enough energy through electro and tech influences to be a winner across a wide range of sets.

Review: The legendary Black Hole continue to reign supreme in trance world as one of the true flagships, and this new series of EP's is prime example. Four outstanding productions which between them have been getting heavy plays from the likes of; Markus Schulz, Daniel Kandi, Lange, Eddie Halliwell. Oen Baren brings a spine chilling eeriness with 'Ictus', while '1492' from Bruve Cullen delivers a wonderfully deep progressive moment. Picking up the pace and power is Urry Fefelove & Abramasi on 'Levitation', and there's a more driving cut from August Vila on 'Visions'. Every one of these tracks is a smash in their own right. Review: Amazingly, it's some 19 years since Robbie Rivera made his debut on R&R Records. Since then, he's released records in a variety of styles on labels including Juicy Records, Subliminal, Strictly Rhythm, Henry Street Music, Toolroom, Spinnin' and, most recently, longstanding trance imprint Black Hole. Here, his big-room focused house track "Starlight" - all dancing melodies and booming bottom-end - gets the remix treatment. We get a couple of slabs of uplifting, melody-rich trance from Manufactured Superstars, a rush-inducing trip into synth-laden electro-house from Vida, and an all-out, strobe-friendly trance rinse out from Da Freakz. Each of the four reworks is built around Rivera's memorable melodies.

Nightlight
Nightlight - (6:52) 128 BPM
Review: Canada born, LA based Syney Blu has been making serious waves over the past few months on both the DJ front and with singles 'Another Late Night' and 'Chemistry'. Merging the genre barriers of trance, house, and electro and fitting in very well with the edm explosion stateside. 'Nightlight' ticks the boxes of all the aforementioned and with the tried & tested talents of Betsie Larkin on lyrics and vocals the whole thing is most definitely lifted up a gear. There is much more depth to the production and musicality then some of her previous, and the trance influences really shine through more so than house. With everyone from Bobina and Ashley Wallbridge to Ian Carey and Fedde Le Grand supporting, it look set to be rocking the clubs for a while.

Review: Well, with this many artists on one sleeve, you kind of know that it's going to be good.. and that is most certainly the case with 'In Motion'. Classic Black Hole sounds, with bags of emotion, uplifting big room melodies and a topline you will have rattling around your head for days on end. The housey old school riff runs (and powers) throughout, with simplistic percussion and a warm rolling bassline. Just the Original mix to grab for now, but we are sure you will agree there is no need for anything else.

Review: Two of Canada's longest standing EMD figures Mikas and Sage are on somewhat of a roll at the moment, moving up from their own Progressive Grooves label to the dizzy heights of Terminal4 and this on Black Hole. 'Eternal' is a hyped up progger with a relentless techy groove, growling bottom-end and a shattering of razor sharp synth lines that wouldn't sound out of place in a full-fire tech trance set. The energy levels are kept to the maximum right the way through, and of the three mixes its the DJ Sage solo take which grabs us most, delivering a dynamic arrangement and heightened intricacy.

Review: Dutchman Daniel Wanrooy makes a welcome return to Black Hole after a brief hiatus following his 'Slice of Life' album. He's not alone as 'I Feel You' sees him join forces with the equally prolific Virtual Vault for a monstrously big tune with a riff to match, set to cause serious destruction. The pairs original sits somewhere between big room house and tech trance and opens up to sets across all the genres in-between. Where this really triumphs though is the killer Mell Tierra electro thrash-down, a mass of distorted synths, epic drops, and bringing the unique and catchy roughed up female vocal to the forefront (as it well should be). Full fire sounds, get on it!

Review: Many producers in electronic music embrace the cinematic style of production, to create that Hollywood blockbuster epicness. It's tougher to achieve then think up of course, but one act who strike the right balance between surround-sound-drama and club sensibility is Moonbeam. "The Random"is a box-office triumph, packed with 22 tracks (which includes some much needed club mixes). It is wall-to-wall with their regular vocal cohorts. The pooled contributions of atypical singers like Avis Vox, Matvey Emerson, Leusin, Blackwite Feel and Aelyn all add much in the enigmatic and atmospheric departments. "Only You" feat Jacob A is instantly catchy, and other highlights (of the many) include "Madness", "Little Monster", and "You Win Me". Stunning album, which we have had on repeat since first listen.

Review: One of the most constantly on point (and prolific) producers in trance is Canadian Glenn Morrison, and here we are treated to a double header of fresh slammers which have been getting big players over the past weeks from Gareth Emery and Armin. Kicking it off is the acid laden 'Maruqee', with its simplistic snappy and sparse beats giving it a marching base for the energetic and quite frankly mad acid line to let rip above and get up to all sorts of musical mischief. On the flip is the equally big 'Time Warp' this time with his trademark percussion, rhythms, and a more formulaic arrangement.. Its pacey and tech laced progressive that doesn't let up in energy of originality throughout. Two massive tracks, which you need to be on!!

If "San Salvador" and "Madras" were your bag, then this latest from the promising pair will no doubt do the damage for you. The original is all about the pumping and uplifting main lead which is set on a sharp percussive bed which effectively lets the riff take all the glory. 'All We Are' lifted from his latest studio album is the former, largely down to the radio friendly vocal from Blake Lewis. With his infectious electro sound surrounding the instantly hooky topline, your onto a winner, and Black Hole once again deliver on the overall package with some great remixes. For us it's all about Marco V's remix, who takes it into 6th gear, while David Solano and Pedro Del Mar also turn in decent interpretations.

Review: In the modern age of the music industry, it has become all the more important to get that direct interaction with your fans and supporters of music. A shift which no doubt got Muzikjunki thinking of setting out a remix opportunity for his Marco Den Held collab 'Rush'. The entries came into the Black Hole offices thick and fast, with the deserving winner being Moscow producer B0nus, who here sees a full release on one the trance's biggest labels. It's an impressive production, progressive but with lots of depth and some really interesting layers and fills which raise it above the parapet. On the new package comes more cuts, with our pick being the funky tech workout from Redondo, bringing a party flair and straight up floor friendly appeal. Top stuff!
