Review: Iconic anthem alert!! The legendary BT unlocks his genre defining classic 'Flaming June' for Black Hole recordings. First realised back in '97 (for many considered the golden era of trance) and without doubt his biggest ever single, it gets an exciting modern day twist from a plethora of fine talent. Heading up the pack is Paul Van Dyk with a typically well polished production fuelled by a heavy acid line and the famous hooked unleashed in the break. With a melody like this, you can't do much wrong with Gareth Wyn and Fred Baker both adding their subtle styles respectively. Completing the package (and our pick of the bunch) is Anjunadeep duo Jaytech & James Grant.
Review: These days when you see Tiesto and Magik Muzik on the same sleeve, you know it's going to be something special, and here they dig out the classic Magik Four 'A New Adventure' compilation from the Black Hole vaults. 16 timeless anthems from the golden era of trance, handpicked and mixed by the original superstar DJ on the label he made his name. Featuring amongst others; 'Your Own Acid' by Kai Tracid, Armin 'Communication' and the Cygnus X remix of Art of Trance 'Easter Island'. At just L9.49 it is an essential moment in history that needs to be in your collection.
Review: Although originally starting out as an experimental electronica band, a subsequent early track from the San Francisco act went on to be snapped up by none other than Tiesto... and the rest as they say is history. Having had a close affinity with the Black Hole label over the past 10 years Mavie Marcos and Josh Gabriel, what better home for their latest single 'Promises'. Trademark emotive beauty and impeccable songwriting once again shines through above all else, with the Dutch label selecting some fine remix talent in the form of Kris O'Neil, Adam Sheridan, and our two favourites from Marco V and Richard Durand.. This weeks essential.
Review: Unquestionably the worlds biggest DJ, over the past 10 years Tiesto has ruled the world of electronic music. From flawless anthemic productions, arena tours, and championing countless upcoming producers. This collection from 97 on his original home Black Hole features the likes of; Mac Zimms, Sunday Club, Sakin, Allure, and Viper 2. Some truly great classic tracks, and with 17 on offer alongside a continuous DJ mix from the master himself its quite simply un-missable.
Review: When you have the world's number one trance DJ, Armin Van Buuren tweeting "woke up this morning with Solarstone - The Spell going round my head", you know you are on to a good thing. One of the long-standing pioneers of trance is back to his very best, featuring the enchanting vocals of Clare Stagg. This has all the beauty and originality of golden era trance, yet with a refreshing twist. What makes it even more exciting is the nostalgic remix from non other than Pulser, this weeks (possibly months) hottest tune!
Review: The later half of 2012 has seen trance legend Solarstone really pick up the pace again. Pushing things forward with his label group, releasing some of his finest singles in recent times, and now this brilliant compilation to round things off perfectly. Compiled by the man himself with two discs (one mixed by Orkidea), 'Pure Trance' does what it says on the box, showcasing all corners of the genre. Highlights across the 30 tracks include; Temple One 'In Her Eyes', Ronski Speeds mix of 'Euphonia', and Michael Cassette's remix of Orkidea 'Sun Dow'. There is of course plenty of showings from Solarstone himself.. You need this in your life!
