Review: It's about time you moved right now. Not a suggestion but an order from the currently unstoppable Daze Prism. Just one track to focus on, "Time" hits with an air of the Dirtybirds with its gully bass, drum switches and subverted arrangement twists. Watch out for the humanised textures on the breakdown, too. The devil is always in the detail.
Review: Electornic r&b sensation Louis Cole must be pretty chuffed with himself. The young producer has only really put out a string of self-released EPs, all of them excellent, but it must be a surprise and delight to be called up on Flying Lotus' Brainfeeder stable. It is clear that this relationship will be a winning one, however, as Time is a sensational album that encompasses all of what the enlarged 'bass' sound has to offer. There is a bit of everything in here, from the slow and melancholic vocal waves of "Everytime" to the much more pop-friendly, electro-filtered approach "Tunnels In The Air" - featuring the terrific Thundercat - and then onto plenty of house voyages and experiments, much like on the sublime "Freaky Times". A sure hit!
Review: One of Ten Ton Beats' most consistent and long-standing artists MQ returns with another broad-armed celebration of all things jumpy and bumpy. As you might expect from Mr Quality, the energy levels are through the roof and shoes are out of the window as he goes in bassline after bassline after bassline. Highlights include 'No Sweat' thanks to its soulful intro and old D Minds style punchy one-hit bass riff and 'Street Knowledge', thanks to its epic sample and savage scattergun hook. And that's only half the EP. Invest some time in MQ right now.
Review: Might has unloaded a truly encapsulating original with this latest new single, as we dive into a silky switch up of catchy vocal riffs and minimal melodies on this new worldie named 'Time'. From the introduction alone we can tell that this one is going to cause some damage, from the unique layering of breaks and percussive inputs, to the dreamy organ melodies that lay alongside a blissful array of classic vocal chops. This one has everything you could want from an original garage roller, and on top of that, it continues to evolve right until the final whistle. What a gem it is!
