Review: Guillaume Labadie aka I Hate Models opens up his long award debut album with "The Beginnning of the End", a typically dramatic affair. Crashing break beats and soaring strings provide a backdrop for an ice queen vocal that soars and drops unexpectedly. What is not unexpected is Labadie's penchant for industrial bangers, which he delivers in style here in the form of "Impossible Love" and "You Are Not Alone". However, Labadie's take on slamming techno is still nuanced: "The Night Is Our Kingdom" deploys steely break beats effectively and on "Romantic Psycho", he uses a

Review: Following a run of quietly impressive singles on Boite Music, Nicolas Saavedra brought his Kabinett project to Internasjonal back in 2022. A couple of EPs later and the Bogota-based DJ/producer is ready to deliver his debut album. Taking cues from fellow Colombian Felipe Gordon, the tracks on offer blend vintage and contemporary synth sounds, electric piano motifs, MPC-driven lo-fi beats and a few choice samples and his own vocals to create a set of tracks that variously draw inspiration from deep house, lo-fi pop, jazz-funk and space disco. Highlights include dreamy pop number 'Volatile Love', the Prins Thomas-esque 'Owl Disco', the decidedly psychedelic and hard chugging title track, and stellar cosmic funk head-nodder 'Don't Rush'. An album that's well worth your time and money.

Review: Since joining XL Recordings earlier in the year - a smart move for someone of her global profile and popularity - Peggy Gou has unleashed a trio of singles that hint at a newly expanded musical outlook. Unsurprisingly, the full extent of her current musical vision can be seen (and heard) on 'I Hear You', the South Korean artist's long-anticipated debut album.
