At 61 tracks large, inclusive of three continues DJ mixes, this new concept by Toolroom, as they say, is to highlight key artists, present new tracks, and give their fans a taste of the live experience. On here there's music from Harvey Mckay, Gary Beck and Maison Sky, to Bat For Lashes, Hot Since 82 and label owner Mark Knight, and if you're looking to grasp the Toolroom Live concept (and other oddities you might not expect), while getting some bang from your buck, this release is a well informed start.

Review: Here's a release that will surprise a lot of techno purists. Dutch trance head Van Doorn teams up with Toolroom boss Mark Knight to create a big room groove which features Underworld on vocals. If this sounds like a match made in hell then fear not, as the spiky percussion, insistent rhythm and dense drums that define the track sound more like a 90s techno track - replete with hoover stabs - than a day-glo anthem. In fact, it sounds like trance and electro house never happened, until the epic break down kicks in and Karl Hyde's evocative narrative takes centre stage.

Review: Toolroom boss Mark Knight teams up with BBC 1's Danny Howard for one of the biggest house releases of the year. The title track rides a rolling, tech-house rhythm that is full of vocal samples and propelled by effective snare rolls. It's infectious, fun and really catchy. "Playing With My Heart" opts for a somewhat different approach. Reminiscent of early 90s New York house, its insistent, slightly menacing bass provides the back drop against which Knight and Howard add in repetitive vocal samples. Factor in some insistent filters and the pair give "Heart" the requisite push towards the big room.

Review: Five years on from the release of the previous instalment in his Bullets series of dancefloor-focused secret weapons, Toolroom star Mark Knight has finally unleased volume five. It boasts two top-notch collaborations. He joins forces with rising star Mason on 'Givin' Up', a typically weighty peak-time excursion in which sweet female vocal snippets, sweet disco strings and funky melodic flourishes leap above crunchy, big room-ready disco-house drums and a driving bassline. 'Movin', a hook-up with James Hurr and vocalist Laura Davie, offers a slightly darker and chunkier variation on the disco-house template, with dirty, sub-heavy bass and hazy, warehouse-ready electronics joining crisp, Chic style guitars and Knight's usual bombastic, speaker-bothering drums.
