Review: Monoloc aka Sascha Borchardt follows a series of EPs in 2018 with some new heat for Dystopian. Like previous releases, Drought is a brooding, intense affair. It starts off with the broken beats and white noise of "Inner Reduction", before Borchardt heads down a more dance-floor friendly route on the title track. Based on a wiry rolling rhythm, it weaves in and out of hypnotic sound scapes to create a mesmerising effect. "Mufon" is of a far darker persuasion, as a brutal pulsating rhythm, swaggers heavily with industrial menace. The German producer returns to broken beats for the atmospheric outro, "From the Method".
