Review: Spanish techno veteran Oscar Mulero goes deeper than usual on Second Skin. The title track is underpinned by a typical Mulero stepping rhythm, but has he added feature of chords flowing and churning overhead. In a similar vein is "Rotar". Based on a straighter arrangement, firing percussion and a rumbling groove underpin synths that soar and swoop like autumn leaves in the wind. The mood changes for the darker with the remixes. Architectural's two versions of the title track are characterised by jagged percussion and intense acid burns, while Tensal's takes on "Rotar" are spring-loaded with churning filters and tough kicks.

Review: Arguably one of Spain's most prolific techno talents, Oscar Mulero returns to the super label PoleGroup with the Electric Storm EP. The title track combines Mulero's trademark throb and reverb-heavy ambience with powerful drums, while "Cave" takes things in an even darker direction, with brittle percussion resonating against reverb-heavy ambience. The remixes aren't too shoddy either; Our Circula Sound boss Sigha delivers a remix of the title track with some prickly yet powerful synth blips, and Tommy Four Seven coats "Cave" with an industrial fuzz and into a broken techno nightmare which will destroy any dancefloor.

Review: Oscar Mulero's label consistently puts out forward thinking techno - and this compilation is no exception. It may start with a surprise for some fans of the Spanish producer's broken beat sounds, with Reeko's "Miracle" delivering ghostly synths over a snaking bass line and Exium's "Mantra" featuring the kind of warbling trance melodies that one would associate with deep Detroit techno. Mulero's own "Tidal Acceleration" heralds a shift back towards more typical sounds as distorted, mangled drums support cold bleeps and a stepping rhythm, while Rolando drops a firing, percussive take on Exium's "Complex". Still, there is enough room for diversity as the skewed metallic rhythms and broken beats of Christian Wunsch's "Complete Surrender" demonstrate.

Review: It's been interesting to see Le Texier's gradual shift towards purist techno and "Valiant", the first track on this release, could be a Jeff Mills composition. Over gargantuan kicks, he lays down a bleepy sequence that moves up and down the tonal scale. Oscar Mulero's remix is typical of the Spanish producer's sound, with broken beats underscoring a dramatic, building filter that cover the original's bleeps in a dense cloud. "Divergent" sees Le Texier deliver a more intense version of 90s techno and its distorted kicks and merciless claps sound more like Luke Slater than Mills. Mike Storm's ravey take on "Divergent" completes this flawless underground release.

Review: Oscar Mulero's other label celebrates its fifth anniversary with this mammoth compendium. For fans of the Spanish imprint's club techno there is no shortage of material to get excited about; the Lewis Fautzi remix of Exium's "Nucleoid" is a hypnotic groove par excellence, its confluence of acid and droning pulses arcing to a tantalising climax, while Christian Wunsch and Exium once again represent the tough industrial and dub-meets-noise sound of the label on "Emission Lines" and "Biolag" respectively. However, there is also a more musical, reflective side to Poelgroup's sound. In this regard, 5 Years delivers most impressively with the chilling strings of the Architectural project from Reeko as well as the Spanish producer's cinematic, break beat-led reshape of Jonas Kopp's "M31".

Review: There's usually something a little creepy about Roger Semsroth's work under the Sleeparchive alias, an aesthetic that both of his previous 2015 12" singles, And In His Eyes I Saw Death and Senza Titolo, gleefully embraced. He's at it again on this outing for Warm Up Spain. Opener "Window-057" sets the tone, lacing uneasy, off-key electronic loops over a decidedly unsettling techno groove. "Window-092" is similarly horror-inclined, albeit with twisted sirens and fizzing textures over a booming kick-drum led rhythm. Warm Up owner Oscar Mulero provides remixes of both, shuffling around the parts whilst retaining Semsroth's typically forthright approach.

Review: Oscar Mulero recruits another talented producer to Warm Up, with Alberto Pascual aka Ribe delivering an exceptional release. The title track is a pulsating, throbbing groove, featuring a wall of hypnotic bleeps and tones that gradually rise in intensity. Ribe favours a different approach on the ominous "Shapes", where a cavernous dub aesthetic is fused with a rolling rhythm. Meanwhile, "Ad Infinitum" is a more abstract piece, with fractured beats combined with layered textures. Pascual veers back towards the dance floor for the drum-heavy " Device" and "Distinct", a lean, skeletal rhythm that features grinding riffs and grayscale textures. Mulero also weighs in on remix duties, providing two robust takes of "Ad Infinitum".

Review: Oscar Mulero's Polegroup label closes the year with a mammoth compilation that defines the current state of the techno nation. As Unknown Landscapes shows, it is a diverse place. There's droning ambience from Daphne RXX, while Reeko, Reggy Van Oers and Mike Parker deliver bleep-heavy, hypnotic groove that draw on the influence of F.U.S.E and Sandwell District. Heads-down loopy fare is also catered for - with the spiky percussion and bleak filters of Jonas Koop's "Fu Factor" standing out - and the form also revisits the rough, analogue sound of the 90s thanks to Karl Bult and American scene veteran DJ Hyperactive's contributions.

Review: Antonio De Angelis follows last year's Chain release on Children Of Tomorrow with another raw techno EP. The title track is led by squealing analogue tones and ferocious bursts of percussion, with all of the arrangement's elements pushed into the red. In contrast, "Ayd" resounds to a menacing bass, which De Angelis uses as a basis to layer atmospheric synths, while "Il Filo" is a high-paced tribal track, with its high-paced rhythm peppered with distorted riffs. As befits such high-quality original material, the label has commissioned two great remixes - Oscar Mulero turns "Il Filo" into a dense stepping techno affair, while Jeroen Search's version of the same track is a menacing, acid-soaked workout.

Review: Having recently graced the Zenker brothers label Illian Tape with some ambient material, Jonas Kopp returns to his more familiar floor focused approach with this release for Oscar Mulero's Warm Up label. It's the Spanish label's first 2014 drop but maintains the pace set on last year's clutch of tracks from Developer, Svreca, Go Hiyama and Mulero himself with lead cut "Westphalia" dominated by the corrugated feeling of the flanged sequence that pummels proceedings forward in cahoots with some haywire 909 hats. The accompanying mix from Mulero is more stripped down but retains the dirty feeling of Kopp's original whilst "Circinus" is sci-fi techno at its finest.
