Review: Robert Armani's influence on electronic music comes into focus again courtesy of this fine retrospective collection. Despite being nearly 30 years old, "Road Tour" is a wonderfully effective Chicago track - the combination of grimy kicks and steely snares provide the perfect basis for bleak synth lines. Available in its original version, the insistent sirens of "Circus Bells" also have the desired impact. Meanwhile, both "Ambulance" and "Score Card" are irresistibly funky ghetto techno tracks and the analogue ticks and bleeps of "Clock Work" still hit hard. It's testament to Armani's vision for dance music that this collection stands head and shoulders above most contemporary techno.
