Review: Marco Niemerski's latest outing under the now familiar Tensnake alias is a typically varied affair, with the long-serving producer variously joining the dots between druggy Italo disco, kosmiche, disco, electrofunk and deep house. Title track "Machines" sits somewhere between pitched-down Italo-disco and deep space cosmic disco, with Niemerski expertly working a druggy arpeggio bassline throughout. Elsewhere, "All In All" sees him build a wavy chunk of peak-time disco around a bongo-laden rhythm track, spacey electronics and an elastic bassline, while the wonderfully Balearic "1975" sounds like Daft Punk after several kilos of Morocco's finest and a fist full of happy pills.

Review: Six years has passed since Tensnake established the True Romance label, so this retrospective "best of" is arguably long overdue. The ten-track set is naturally dominated by his productions, with highlights including the dreamy Italo-disco revivalism of "Hello?", the slap bass-propelled Balearic disco cheeriness of "All In All" and the seductive electronic sensuality of "Desire". Elsewhere, there's another chance to savour Tiger & Woods superb mid-tempo proto house meets Italo-disco revision of Sunrise Highway's "Some Kind of Fool", a deserved airing for Phil Gerus' synth-laden jazz-funk workout "Make Time" and some stellar disco-house from T.U.R.F (the excellent "Never Get Enough".

Review: Since setting their stall out in 2006, the Rebirth label has tried to reflect changing tastes, mixing up their releases accordingly. This expansive compilation showcases a selection of their disco-tinged releases and remixes, casually moving between dubbed-out nu-disco, revivalist fare and disco-leaning house. There's plenty for disco diggers to enjoy, from he spacey, low-end throb of Mock & Toof's remix of Nufrequency and Faze Action's bouncing synth-disco re-cut of Stretch Silvester, to a vintage, synth-laden collaboration between Spirit Catcher and Ilija Rudman. There's also an early, pre-hype remix from Tensnake and a typically adventurous Dr Dunks outing from Eric Duncan.

Review: By now, we should all know what to expect from Toolroom's "Poolside Ibiza" compilation strand, namely groovy nu-disco, house and laidback Balearic beats inspired by afternoons spent lounging by the water in stonking White Isle heat. Naturally, there are plenty of gems to be found amongst the 40 unmixed tunes selected by chosen DJs Moullinex and Xinobi, from their own collaborative post-punk/dub number "X Marks The Spot", to the slick '80s synth-pop dreaminess of Tensnake's fine remix of Xinobi's "Far Away Place" and the drowsy, Morricone-influenced soundscape weirdness of Simple Symmetry's remix of Moscoman's "I Ran". Throw in some seriously good cuts from Felipe Gordon, Donald Dust, Pin Up Club and Meera (whose carnival-ready boogie jam "Fine Without You" stands out), and you have a fine collection of summery cuts.
