Review: Crosstown Rebels boss Damian Lazarus seems to be mellowing with age - or at least getting more artistically adventurous. This follow-up to his 2009 debut, Smoke The Monster Out, was co-produced by Simian Mobile Disco's James Ford in LA. London and Mexico, with the assistance of an impressive cast of musicians from around the world. While rooted in the kind of tactile house and techno most associated with the evergreen hipster, Message From The Other Side is impressively psychedelic, otherworldly and stargazing in outlook. The album's woozy, horizontal appeal is therefore enhanced by Lazarus and Ford's use of Indian instrumentation, African percussion and impeccable keys-work from American jazz pianist Eric Lewis.

Review: Damian Lazarus & The Ancient Moons' Message From The Other Side LP was released back in 2015 but is still riding on its resounding success, this time in the form of several tracks receiving some stellar remixes. Obviously there were the ones for the singles "Vermillion" and "Lovers' Eyes (Mohe Pi Ki Najariya)" but now comes Remixes From The Other Side Part I. Lazarus has called in hot Tel Aviv duo Red Axes to makeover the title track and it's as sweet as you can imagine with its combination of punk funk, psych rock and nu-disco. The now legendary Acid Pauli also steps in to remix said track and his rendition is a deep and sexy serving of low slung and bassline driven deep house. Finally Disco Halal main man Mehmet Aslan does over "Lovers Eyes", delving into some sublime and exotic Middle Eastern flavour.

Review: Here's something a little different from Downunder Disco (real name Steve Cooper) and Masterworks Music: an EP whose lead track, "Drivin' Me", sidesteps disco altogether in favour of a throbbing, riff-heavy late night house sound rich in hands-aloft stabs, reverb-laden vocal samples and a booming bassline so thick it might be made out of treacle. The Aussie producer explores similar sonic territory on the similarly stab-tastic - if a little more musically expansive and percussive - "Disco-Tech", while "That's It" sees him craft a rubbery chunk of hybrid house/nu-disco fusion out of elastic bass, bumpin' beats and the kind of jazzy, swing-style riffs that were once a favourite feature of James Curd's Greenskeepers productions for Classic.

Review: Thanks to quietly impressive appearances on Diynamic, Visionquest, Cadenza and Cocoon, Uner is widely regarded as one of the deep tech-house scene's most consistent producers. This EP - his first for L.A's hyped Culprit stable - will only enhance his reputation. It opens with a blast of tech-house positivity, "Dancemotive", where trippy electronics, rising melodies and spacey aural textures crowd round a rock solid groove. Steve Bug channels the spirit of the KLF's late ''80s "pure trance" movement on his basement-bothering rework of the same track, before Uner delivers more smile-inducing thrills in the shape of "Lights From The Other Side". The woozier and dreamier "In A Different Plane", with its' bittersweet chord progressions and tactile synth bassline, completes a decent package.
