Starseed 47 (original mix) - (5:47) 131 BPM
Played by: J:Kenzo, Cimm
Review: Now many have guessed that this one has been in the works for a while, but that makes us no less excited to unveil this tasty new album projct from J:Kenzo, who returns to his home imprint of Artikal Music for 'Taygeta Code'. From start to finish, the album is a true exploration into electronic music, primarily of course focussed around 140BPM. It's got bass pressure on 'Desired State', it's got acidic originality on 'Hoodwinked', it's even got a weighty guest vocal from the legendary Flowdan who returns on Kenzo's Darkside VIP mix of 'Like A Hawk'. This is an excellent showcasing of J:Kenzo's ability within a crowded dubstep scene.

Lafayette - "Better Late Than Never" (Kettama remix) - (4:56) 133 BPM
Review: On this must-check EP, Madhouse offers up another selection of 21st century revisions of vintage productions by label head honcho (and all round US deep house legend) Kerri Chandler. Henrik Schwarz kicks things off in fine style with a warm, groovy and melody driven soft-touch deep house rework of Chandler and Jerome Sydenham's superb "Powder", before D'Julz gets dreamy and gently intoxicated on a hypnotic, locked-in version of "Peace of Mind". Kettama raises the dancefloor pressure version with a bumpin', late '90s U.S garage style take on Lafayette's "Better Late Than Never", while Marquis Hawkes also takes a trip to New Jersey via a skipping, life-affirming "Classic Club Mix" of Jiletta Riley's "The Way Things Were" (think late 90s David Morales and Frankie Knuckles remixes and you're close).

Review: We were starting to wonder what had happened to Strictly Flava, as they had gone over twenty days without a brand new release hitting the shelves! We couldn't be happier to see them return and it such an exciting fashion as they unveil the third edition of their highly praised 'Strictly Flava Allstars' season. First up, Earthnut continue their hot streak with the soulful arrangements of 'Play' before MC Chiverton joins D Selektah on the old school rolls of 'Outrageous'. Next, we smoothen out with vibrant horn riffs and choppy melodies on Sam Deeley's 'Rinse Sound' and Solution's sine-heavy 'Spiritual Journey' arrangement, before rounding off with Zero FG & Jay Barrett linking up on 'Underdogs'. What a selection!

Review: A state of trance in 2020 is where you want to be and with Armin Van Buuren at the controls it's the likes of vocalised Nicky Romero remixes and epic drops from Fatum that are fire starting the year. Album only tracks include the true rave ethics of Genix in "Giant Steps" to the classic dreamlike vocal sessions of Mark Schultze. Harder, techier rave material comes from Andrew Rayel X Chukiess & Whackboi with a mysterious classic bonus track "Coming Home" coming in at 20. Our pick: "The Thrillseekers present Hydra - After The Rain (extended mix)".

Burnout (Dawn) - (2:01) 131 BPM
Review: Some six years ago we met Mr. 8040. It was 2357 A.D. and our hero was in the throes of hazardous journey back to his home planet. This premise was set up with Welcome To Mikrosector-50 LP in 2013, a debut Space Dimension Controller album for R&S. Love Beyond The Intersect, it is told, sees Mr 8040 again exploring "the unknown world in the hope of finding help." With Space Dimension Controller at the controls, this return represents a deeper touch to the story, with Moodymann levels of deep house depth reached in "Alone In An Unknown Sector" alongside the equally ambient and evoking sounds of "Sundown On Memory Point". A new level of maturity and minimalism shines through on the album with the power of subtleness is on display here. Cue ambient swells of cosmic atmospheres dusted up by the soft pitter-patter of luscious drums and sweet shining synths. Godspeed Mr. 8040!

Invisible Guest - (6:48) 133 BPM Biggest-selling track on this release
Review: The fifth Future Primitive release, Babylon Paralysis, sees the label work with an all-time favourite UK techno artist Steve O'Sullivan. A reissue of a classic slab of late '90s Bluetrain material from Steve in the shape of "Congo Shuffle", which originally surfaced as an untitled track on the timeless Echo Freaks 12". Newly extended and edited by O'Sullivan, "Congo Shuffle" has been lavishly cut at the Exchange giving new life to this bottom feeding monster.
Elsewhere on the EP, Steve blesses us with two brand new productions continuing the sub-heavy theme. "Invisible Guest" steps away from the straight up 4/4 productions nailed in recent years in favour of a stealthy broken dub approach that wouldn't be out of place on go-to Bristol label Idle Hands. "Paralyzed Dub" is both the inspiration for the release title and another classic demonstration of Steve's ability to stun listeners with very few elements. Play loud.

LR Groove X Dryman - "Life Form" - (3:46) 131 BPM
Review: 2019 has been a resounding success for the 1Forty imprint, with a fantastic run of releases under their belt across the realms of multiple different genres. Today we check out their last drop of 2019 as they continue their run of funky and garage compilations. Firstly, they bring together both Muder He Wrote and Logan for a tasty roller by the name of 'Worthwhile', before Razor & Hamdi bring down the vocal fire over Retrospects funky infused 'What You Gonna Do'. Next, the vocal flavours and nostalgic chords come to life in Higgo's smooth UKG smash entitled 'Soul 2 Soul' before LR Groove & Dryman conclude proceedings with 'Life Form', a stomping, carnival-ready creation!

Review: As one of the most exciting electronic music imprints currently working in the UK, High Class Filter's Scuffed Recordings return here for another tasty selection as they bring forward the third edition of their 'Scuffed Presents' series. We kick off with Dubrunner's exceptional original as the metal drum chops and unpredictable rhythms of 'Zoya's Trip' wade into view, followed closely by the perfectly distorted 808 movements and percussive involvement of 'Cave People' from An Avrin. Next, we take a peek at the Terror mix of Odiham from Avernian, another stuttered masterclass in rhythmic ideas and funky influence, before the smoothened breakbeat themes of 'Vivid Dream Of Death' from Young Muscle brings us to a close.

Review: 2020 has arrived, and with it we are expecting yet another year of experimental breakbeat goodness, especially from the heavyweight labels such as Breakbeat Paradise. This first EP of the year from Mined & Forrest is a perfect way to kick off as we leap into four tasty originals, starting with the swagtastic bass moogs and drum shifts of 'The Big Mama', alongside the demonic vocal slaps of 'Acting Like You Know', the sauce-dripping smoothness of 'Gimme The Best' and the hard hitting bass drives of 'Fire Back' alongside IamLawn. On remix duty, Mr. Ours steps up first for a colourful rethink of 'The Big Mama', with Crash Party providing a grizzly d&b switch up of 'Acting Like You Know'. Tidy!

Review: We have been delivered a real treat with this one as Club Asylum link up with Jeremy Sylvester and Kayleigh Gibson and Onyx Stone for what we can safely call a "proper bit of UKG'. Urban Dubz have struck gold here as the combine crunchy, original garage grooves with Jeremy's smoothly toasted vocals and Kayleigh's dance floor-ready harmonies for some classic flavours, certain to bring out the raver in anyone. This one comes complete with a high energy C.A.P 2-step mix as well as the throwback-ready Back 2 90's Vibe mix. This whole package comes ready for the dance!

Review: With trance pretty much in vogue as it's ever been, who more do you trust to deliver this classic sound than Armin Van Buuren 'the master' himself. The best of 2019 compilation sees epic tales in trance come from Artic Moon with a refined strand of progressive beats and vocals in "Cool In My Disaster", with a similar vibe also heard on Jameson Tuller's "Black & White". Roman Messer turns in an uplifting number via "Dreaming" - the title suggesting enough - while Above & Beyond deliver the goods with the epic "Show Me Your Love". Ferry Corsten too makes an appearance with the star-gazing and emotional distorted "Surga", with AvB's marching cut "Turn It Up" a classic for peak time DJs everywhere.

Don't Turn Your Back (Carl Cox remix) - (6:53) 130 BPM
Review: Delivering his first piece of solo produced music for more than a decade, Hot Creations welcome the legendary Danny Tenaglia with "Don't Turn Your Back" - a sweltering and hypnotic tribal tech house workout that calls to mind the seminal sounds he was responsible for at the turn of the millennium. On remix duties are some equally legendary figures of electronic music: Harry "Choo Choo" Romero of Subliminal fame injects some latin flair into the track, while the larger than life Carl Cox delivers not one but two renditions - the tough and functional main remix with dub techno inflections, and a slinky rolling groove on his "ASW" remix.

Review: As ever with the fantastic 2TUF4U imprint, we have been gifted with a slice of UKG magnificence, with the illustrious Karl Brown Of Tuff Jam joining us for a super experimental three track piece. From start to finish, this EP really draws off a nostalgic use of dynamics, with tracks having numerous volume switch ups all the way through, beginning with the super choppy drum thumps of 'Intro Special'. Next, we surge into the Klub edit mix of 'So Good', again using crunchy grooves and organ chords to bring a classic garage vibe, before we land on the warm, fuzzy arrangement of 'Get Up'. Following this we dive into the two additions from Dub Jamz , who provides more old school tastings in high tempo drum grooves of 'Unity Theme', before rounding off the project on the chord-heavy progressions of 'I Don't Know.

Pepe - "Linda's Retreat" - (5:36) 130 BPM
Played by: BURNIE
Review: To celebrate the fifth birthday of their essential Riverette label, Spanish twosome Dos Attack has put together a series of sizzling EPs featuring a wealth of previously unheard music. Volume two begins with Throwing Snow's "Reminisce", a bass-heavy broken beat number rich in tribal percussion sounds, dreamy chords and eyes-closed melodies, and continues with a spot of organ-heavy Afrobeat-deep house fusion by Marcel Vogel ("Blaze"). Pepe joins the dots between turn-of-the-90s Italian deep house and Balearic nu-disco on the life-affirming warmth of "Linda's Retreat", while Medlar wraps rising and falling synthesizer melodies around a lo-fi drum machine beat on the equally lovely "606".

Gonna Fly (GG's Brown Stew Kickin dub) - (6:08) 133 BPM
Review: The garage fever is seemingly not going anywhere as we carry on with the massive expansion of the genre into a brand new decade. One of our favourites here at Juno Download is most definitely CJ Reign, a producer whose consistency and originality really does see him rise to the top of the pile more often than not. We here see him land on 2TUF4U for a very tidy remix EP, as Sole Masters Inc, Odin Hardt & GG provide us with some sumptuous remixes of 'Gonna Fly'. Each remix is fantastic in it's own right, but the vibrant flavours and harmonic structures of Sole Masters Inc's re-think is a real standout on this one!

Wintergrass - Looped - (3:44) 133 BPM
Review: Uncovered is a three-part series that shines a light on unreleased tracks from Peter Van Hoesen's archives from a ten-year period, commencing in 2008. What may surprise fans of his kinetic warehouse techno is that the respected producer is also adept at creating slowed-down electronic pieces, audible here on "Editsolopunchin19 " and "Rosegarden Funeral Of Sores", the latter featuring Jacques Trenson's muddy vocals. There are other unexpected delights on this volume, such as the droning "Merely A Mirage", while "Slowdisto" bathes in a glitchy hue. At the same time, this collection does remind the listener of Van Hoesen's dance floor prowess and both "Exor1" and "Gadarene Rush" contain vivid sketches that form the basis of his distinctive techno sound.

Review: If we were to give an award for label of the year based entirely on consistency, it would be hard to see Four40 not running away with it as they finally round off what has been an untouchable year with one last killer compilation. Royal Flush takes the role of compiler on this one, pulling in some scorchers from the likes of Soulecta, ZeroFG, Jack Junior, Tuff Culture, Earthnut and of course Royal Flush himself. There are a couple of tracks here we feel really hold their own amongst a stacked line up, with Pavv's classic sounding '3210' being one of them, alongside 'Guilty Twitches' from Ozwald and the choppy vibes of 'Love Is Coming' from the legendary EL-B.

Rough Club Poetry - (5:12) 130 BPM
Review: Bryan Kessler goes all drums in for a release not to be overlooked in the annual 'best of' lists that go around this time of year. And we'll be the first to say, don't sleep! Rough Club Poetry is Bryan Kessler's way of throwing down a new dialogue at this generation's ravers, dropping drum tracks as raw Steve Poindexter, Mike Dunn and those Disco Nihilist cuts from Running Back. Find the hits in "All Drums In" - a banging electro-acoustic number - to the roof raising "My Snare Is A Weapon" and percussion assault that is "Time To Upgrade Your Mind". With streaks of post punk, 80s new wave and vogue threaded through the rest of the LP too, it's "You Ain't Tired" that'll slap you round most.

We Call It Acieeed (Nathan Micay's Limp Wrist Society remix) - (6:14) 130 BPM
Review: Originally released over 30 years ago when dance music swept the UK, the D Mob standard has not aged a second. However, this re-release does include a series of remixes that lend it a contemporary context. First up is Drumcode producer Rebuke with a restless minimal techno version that twists and turns the original 303 line into new shapes. Mall Grab opts for a straight, banging techno take, with only the 'acieeed' clarion call remaining. Nathan Micay drops a pulsating, high-paced version, while best of all, edit king Serge Santiago drops an electronic disco-led version, where the 303s are tweaked to the max.

Para - "Promise" - (5:14) 132 BPM
Review: There have been few labels that have impressed us at Juno Download more than Strictly Flava this year, primarily due to their incredible levels of consistency. This latest drop is a fantastic way to demonstrate that as they unveil the first of the 'Strictly Flava Allstars' series, with Brenz starting proceedings with a super groovy vocal mashup entitled 'Lingerie Music'. Next, Tuff Culture touches down with a big room roller entitled 'Vibrations', before the colourful melodies of Para's 'Promise' and old school LFO work of Pepe Elle's 'Fresh Pillow' roll out. Finally, we find ourselves with a really original piece as Sensa lays down some refreshing sub work, alongside smart vocal assists on 'Let It Go' to polish this one off with some serious finesse.
