Mandy vs Booka Shade
Review: It's been 12 years since M.A.N.D.Y and Booka Shade broke through with "Body Language", a single that did much to define to Berlin tech-house sound of the period. Here, Madrid-based producer and Infamous Recordings label boss Danniel Selfmade gets a chance to re-build the much-loved Get Physical classic in his own image. There's much to admire about his Infamous version, which wraps the original's bouncy, tactile synthesizer motifs and undulating synth-bass around a proto-house era drum machine rhythm. In some ways, a feels a little like a long lost Metro Area track, which is no bad thing. The accompanying Dub is an altogether chunkier and more tech-tinged proposition, though it does still showcase the original synth parts in between blasts of heads-down groove theory.

Review: Berlin duo M.A.N.D.Y. finally release their debut album after around 16 years on the house/techno circuit. Comprised of Patrick Bodmer and Philip Jung, they run Get Physical Recordings with DJ T and Booka Shade; whom they recorded their breakthrough hit "Body Language" with in 2004. Due to reports in dance music media saying that recording an album was not so much a priority amongst all their excessive touring, it's better late that never and rest assured the German duo deliver the goods across these 14 tracks. Featuring special guests Brett Johnson, Francesco Tristano, vocalist Nonku Phiri (on the slow burning classic house of "Hi End") and the lo-slung electro breaks of "Whisper" featuring Afrika Baby Bam (Jungle Brothers). As a bonus there is also a 2016 remix of the aforementioned hit "Body language" featured too.
