Review: The fifth installment on the only underground label to make facial hair cool comes from its owner. Working with Gucci, another doyen of basement parties, David Vunk drops "Cold As Ice". Clocking in at nearly ten minutes, this tearing, bass-led track moves from icy synths into abrasive acid as a ponderous vocal interrupts occasionally. The other two tracks aren't quite as grandiose, but they are just as effective. "Medication Time" sees snares crash and drums flail relentlessly, while "Dikke Pep" involves the pair taking the listener on a journey through The Hague's sewers, accompanied by chilling rave stabs and percussion so sharp it could take your ears off.
Review: Oh dear, it looks like L3MMY Dubz is going to kill us. Let's face it, with sound designs as intoxicating and venomous as L3mmy's, it was only a matter of time before some type of murderation was going to go down... And at least he's taken the time to warn us. What a warning it is, too. The title track is a big bucket of pure froggy grot and it's backed up by three more deadly blows: 'Bone Cruncher' lives up to its name its twisted bit-crushed glitches and sonic slaps, 'Gurgles' is so slimy and stinking it's now the new national anthem for all swamp people across the world while 'It's Horrible' closes the EP on such far out and freaky levels, he's already killed us. RIP everyone!
Review: As ever with the legendary production styles of Jubley, we have learned to expect the unexpected, with this latest helping of juice coming to us courtesy of the ever-ready Fodder imprint. We open up with the eerie synthetics and smart sampling of 'Why That', a vibrant title track that showcases Jubley's underground mastery in a smoothened blaise of electronic structure. Next, 'Minus 132' strips things back further for a slightly more quirky 2-step, before the broken-beat drumlines and unique bass designs of 'Back Then' give us a very tasty finale. Top work from a legend, but we wouldn't expect anything less!
