Review: On this sequel to the label's brilliant Italian house retrospective, Ciao Italia, the team at Rebirth Records has moved on to the early '90s and the next stage in Italy's electronic music evolution. Of course, the piano-laden, loved-up breeziness that marked out the earlier 'dream house' wave is still evident, but this time there's more low-slung basslines, tribal-influenced drums, and heavy late-night grooves. With a deeper and more diverse track listing, it's undoubtedly a brilliant sequel, with our picks of a very strong bunch including Donato Dozzy & Rumi's deep tribal house workout 'Flusso', Flavio Vecchi & House Pillar's bouncy 'Dancing On A Thin Line (Goin' Deep Mix)', T.R.A's thrusting, analogue-rich 'Take My Heart' and the frankly bonkers-but-brilliant 'LaLaLaa' by Cosmos.

Review: With 25 tracks to choose from, this second volume of Mango Sounds' anniversary collection certainly offers plenty of dancefloor bang for your hard-earned buck. No room here to go into every track, obviously, but overall the emphasis is on fairly faithful homages to the original US disco sounds of the late 70s/early 80s, with the odd excursion into more boogie- or funk-inspired territory. With cuts from the likes of Igor Gonya, Ken@Work, Hotmood and C. Da Afro plus a host of more up-and-coming names, this is one more trad-minded disco lovers (as opposed to Italo-fiendin' hipsters) will want to check for sure.

And here Warrington lad Danny Worrall's disco and re-edits label Masterworks Music do just that, with an anniversary collection packing a whopping 50 back catalogue nuggets. You'll excuse us the full track-by-track, then, but suffice to say that this is the label that helped launch the careers of Dr Packer and Natasha Kitty Katt, both of whom feature here, and with names like Ziggy Phunk, Rayko, Alkalino, Chuggin' Edits and Fabiolous Barker also on bill, you should already have a pretty good idea what to expect. Classy stuff all round, and a great VFM package - here's to five more years!

Review: We all know his name. And by now we should all know what he sounds like, too... Morlack has been blazing the nu funk, bass and bootleg scene with creativity and stacks of long players for a good half decade now. This latest set comprises 14 of his genre-melting dancefloor devices; from the Kravitz dancehall facelift "Boss Like Me" to the slap-bass strutting, percussion heavy 80s rap homages "For The Brothers In The Ghetto" and "Problems Generator" each cut is primed for unashamed party fun. Elsewhere there's a 90s ghetto twist on the Tower Of Power-twisting "Movin' On The Dumb Stuff" while another highlight "Back It On" sees Beenie Man getting the funkiest version of his illustrious life.
