Review: It seems that for his 19th installment of edits, label boss Valique has thrown caution to the wind, boldly going where no re-editor has dared venture before. The six scalpel jobs on this collection include many tracks considered either sacred or just too wrong to ever tackle, but it bothers him not a jot. Standouts include Mick Hucknall's unapologetic expression of sexual arousal, Something Got Me Started, being turned into a the Balearic house bouncer "I'd Give It All For You", the proggy electro-house Pink Floyd rework "Brick Wall" and the groovy Prince edit "The Future".

Review: Unashamed boogie revivalists Qwestlife are a good fit with Defected's disco-minded Glitterbox offshoot. It probably helps, though, that "Give Me A Minute" is something of a shimmering, synth-fired treat. The "ultra-hot" boogie band, assisted by the sensual vocals of Jacqui George, are in prime form on "Give Me a Minute", which is so authentic in its' construction, vibe and instrumentation that it could have been produced in New York in 1983. Sadly, this digital download edition doesn't include the Paul Simpson/Serious Intention style "Dubbed Out" and "Bonus Beats" versions showcased on the vinyl release, though the sublime "Give Me a Minute 7 (Extended Mix)", with its subtle nods towards Leroy Burgess and Patrick Adams, will be more than enough for most DJs.

Like its' predecessors, the 20-track set prioritises fun and frolics, blurring the boundaries between disco, electrofunk, nu-disco and house via a mixture of unreleased cuts, high-grade remixes, exclusives and familiar favourites. There's naturally tons to get the blood pumping throughout, with the many highlights including Opolopo's deliciously squelchy, sun-soaked and soulful take on Danny Kane and Princess Freesia's 'I Love The Way You Do', Yam Who's fantastic, early '80s disco style rework of Bazza Ranks and Venessa Jackson's 'Talk Is Cheap', the synth-heavy nu-disco perfection of Sammy Deuce's 'Give Me Love', and the low-slung, party-starting brilliance of Brothers In Arts' 'We Got The Funk', featuring the distinctive vocals of Freakpower's Ashley Slater.

With big names like Kathy Brown, DJ Paulette, Rowetta, Caron Wheeler, Sulene Fleming and Natasha Kitty Katt nestling up alongside a host of more up-and-coming artists, the quality standard is high throughout, with the musical emphasis largely on good-time, Saturday night house and disco vibes, though there a few more gently paced moments - notably in the form of covers of Bobby Caldwell's 'What You Won't Do For Love' and Sade's 'Sweetest Taboo' - while Paulette & Massey serve up a pleasing dose of acid on 'Sheroes'.

Review: Although sounding like the corny conclusion to the old God is a DJ line, Music Is A Miracle is the much more credible new LP from rising producer, Marco Biagini aka Kellerkind. From his nu-disco roots, Biagini has forged a new hybrid sound, fusing deep house grooves with flickers of disco and boogie.
