Review: Audio Arkiv has been doing an excellent job of unearthing and digitally reissuing Uwe Schmidt's (aka AtomTM) timeless electronics from the '90s. These latest 12 cuts to see the light of day contain yet more of the man's inimitable electro-acoustic sound design, a style that's been copied and unsuccessfully emulated by many. Each track is broken, sparse, wild and oddly humoristic, where AtomTM's grooves are both fluid and disjointed at the same time, a collection of truly experimental arrangements which are continuously surprising on each listen.

Review: Perennial champion of tongue-in-cheek leftfield electronics Uwe Schmidt is back to present a digital re-release of his live performance in Frankfurt in 1994, originally released on Fax at the time and highly deserving of a wider audience. In keeping with the Fax tradition there is a hypnagogic state maintained throughout this performance as an ensemble of synths issue forth pads, drones and bleeps of the highest calibre. It's a set that operates more as one extended piece than a collection of tracks, perfect for meditative moments when only the most ambient techno will suffice, keeping compositional shifts subtle and spiritual nourishment high on the agenda.

Review: Uwe Schmidt continues to do the right thing by his completist fans and reaches back into the vaults for another digital reissue of his foundational electronics from the '90s. This time it's the alias Superficial Depth that gets reanimated, with the ambient long player Digital Superimposing available once more in all its seventy minute glory. This is meditative music from the Biosphere school of production, using a light touch of tonal studying to create an utterly heavy listening experience, but it's no monotonous drone-fest. There are moments of perky electronica tucked away in the misty surroundings, while the moods shift with practiced poise.

Review: Uwe Schmidt released a whole load of gold back in the 1990ss under his Atom tm moniker, and in the last five years, the man has dedicated his efforts to remastering and unearthing plenty of that material for his own Audio Archive. The Lisa Carbon Trio Polyester might be a mouthful by name, but it's certainly an earful by sound; it's an album that mixes up just about every genre possible for electronic music. Inside, you'll find huge swathes of ambient, quirky, jazzed-out electronica, and gorgeous downtempo for the more pensive moments. It's another gorgeous notch on the old belt, and we welcome more of this fantastic sound that still sounds so fresh and cutting-edge nowadays.
