Review: This is the debut single by The Boogie Man, the North London 'project' of Juan Laya & Jorge Montiel, previously of Los Charly's Orchestra. Their aim is to 'embrace the legacy of the Boogie Funk...blending with the London touch' and that, they do with a lot of panache. "When The Funk Rains Down" is a slice of raw, unadulterated '70s style boogie with excellent trumpets. Lowrider also steps up to deliver his discofied version; a cheeky, claps 'n' cowbells jam.

Review: Italian electro-house rocker Msystem brings a bucket load of bang to the table with this Acid Disco Freaks EP - channelling the Mothership Connection with his Funkadelic-sampling remix of his own "We Live Forever" leading off a club-ready set of filtered loops and punchy snares, as heard especially on the Djedtronic-esque title tune

Review: There are most definitely some dub elements running adrift in this latest selection of dread filled tracks from Hospital Productions' Rainforest Spiritual Enslavement, such as on the opener "Upside Down Left Eye" which is a real excursion into the lower frequencies of the sound spectrum. "Undrinkable Water" is as bleak and despairing as you can get for Hospital, whilst "In Honduras Death Caused By Being Chased By Spirits" truly brings out the name of the artist into the limelight, where chirpy but sinister bird noises drop in and out of a chilling sphere of reverb. "The Spirit Wore The Shoes Of The Boy" is a comparatively more beat-led dub excursion and it's one of the highlights, though all of this compelling and challenging journey into the tenebrous mind of Rainforest Spiritual Enslavement comes highly recommended.
