Review: After flitting between aliases and styles over the last few years, Aki "Neuroxcyde" Bergen finally releases his debut full length. That it's a cultured, well-crafted, beautifully structured set of finely honed deep house is the first of many surprises. Via the use of cute interludes, live instrumentation, sultry vocals, carefully chosen samples and (in true Italian house style) lots of organs, Bergen offers up a groove-laden journey that will entertain both home listeners and late night dancers. While it works best in context - i.e. listened to from start to finish - there are still stand out dancefloor moments - not least the melodic hip-house deepness of the title track.

Review: The latest on Josh Wink's long standing imprint comes from Vienna-based Alexander Wirth of Leap Records, with five tracks proving his worth (no pun intended) and why he is likely to appear on the label again in future. Featuring the flanged and dubby groove dynamics of "Everyday Sunday", more late night mood music awaits on the smooth and sensual "Forever Deep", the sunny and balearic tinged "Carmens Rainbow" which we hope to hear on The White Isle (if the summer season reopens) this year, as well as the low slung bass-driven bounce of "Philadelphia Steam". The last track being a wonderful homage to the label's hometown and an all round terrific close to an impressive EP.

Review: Manchester artist Belly is back with his second EP of 2014 released through his new inprint Belly Dance, and this time he is joined by East End Soul vocalist Shona Carmen. Belly's second EP sees him up the pace slightly from his inaugural release, moving slightly away of the slow beat of his earlier tracks and embarking on a slightly more uptempo, swing style. "Control" is a hazy club track with strong vocals from both Belly and Shona backed up by drum and bass beats, followed by vocal-heavy space beats in the form of "Zu". We see the real inpact of Carmen with a club track loaded with summer vibes called "Painting", while Timothy J Fairplay brings in his own take on 90s Chicago garage music with a banging remix of "Dark Autumn" from Belly's debut release.
