Review: Thanks to three previous 12" and digital samplers, most of you will have a fair idea what to expect from this debut full-length from Scottish house-disco fusionists Graeme Clark and Craig Smith. It's still very much worth listening to the album in its entirety, though. Clearly designed as a proper album to be listened to in sequence, it's beautifully programmed and packs a whole skipload of great ideas (not to mention brilliant samples) into a thoroughly entertaining 90-miniute journey. While it only occasionally strays from house - check the downtempo delight "Settle" - there's plenty of variety within that, touching on classic NYC deepness, loopy disco/house heaviness, sensual slo-mo grooves and string-laden tech-house builders.

Review: Southampton's Al Pack takes us for a ride through the various, classic shades of drum and bass; borrowing equally from jungle as he does from soul and disco, calling to mind legends such as Peshay, Alex Reece and London Elektricity. Starting with the jazz infused vibes of the title track, other highlights aren't limited to the street level breakbeat science of "Ruffneck Tactics" and "Hustle Daily" while "Nimbus" or "Quarter After Two" feature the smooth liquid drum and bass vibes that LTJ Bukem or Calibre would stand up and notice. Well produced and promising stuff.

Review: He's back! The Chicago techno and hard house legend returns on his notorious Kne Deep imprint with a new full length effort. The man who brought such legendary titles over the last couple decades such as "Motherucking Bass", "Freaks On Hubbard" and "Look'n Like A Woman" still pulls off his jackin' and relentless style as good as ever here and takes no prisoners! Getting straight down to business on the gusty and stompin' "That's What I'm Talkin' About" featuring his hilarious trademark vocals, there's two versions of the sick "Round Midnight" but we were more concerned with the "Rush Acid dub"(after all, he is from the Windy City!), while tracks like "Dirty Boy" and "Feeling Sexy" showcase his ever enduring knack for charming track titles; not mention a singular techno sound that influenced a generation of dancers and producers. He once famously said "Take more for what I am, or don't take me at all!" and we're certainly with the former. Isaiah Major: respect for doing it your way.?

Review: While he might not be a name to receive all the latest hype and background chatter, the UK's Mikey B has been a strong presence on the wider bass scene throughout the last ten years. Coming through with the first mutations of grime into dubstep, the man has been perfecting and refining to achieve the diversity of sounds found on this latest LP. Evolution is a journey, or rather, a DJ set in and of itself; all sorts of bass squelching can be found across its seventeen bangers, all of which have their roots firmly locked onto the dancefloor. In fact, play this whole damn killer out at a party, and you don't even need a DJ. Hybrid cuts for the modern ear - yes, yes, Mikey!

Review: In the 30-odd years he's spent producing heavy, TB-303-laden house music, DJ Pierre has never released an album under his most familiar alias. Wild Pitch: The Story sets out to put the record straight. It contains a mixture of previously unheard cuts and remixed classics in his distinctive Wild Pitch style (think dark, restless, mind-altering and funk-fuelled early morning workouts), with a few surprises thrown in. Highlights include a thumping re-make of 1993 slammer "Fall" - all jammed-out warehouse riffs, delay-laden vocal samples and thickset acid bass - the acid/deep house/gospel fusion of the Dr Martin Luther-King sampling "Meet Hate With Love" and a particularly wonky, acid-laden cover version of Donna Summer classic "I Feel Love". In the words of Roach Motel: "Wild Pitch, I love you".

With 32 high quality tracks to wade through, picking highlights is tough, though our favourites include the percussion and horn-heavy "You Should Be Dubbing", the soaring disco-house brilliance of "Doug's Place", the silly-but-sensational "Disco Owl" and the Clavinet-happy brilliance of the Re-Tide & Moon Rocket Remix of "Crystal Lover".

Review: It's a reflection of Tonbe's impressive productivity that his "Best Of" series has now notched up a third volume. Happily, the quality threshold remains pleasingly high, with the Disco Fruit founder gathering together tried-and-tested re-edits, reworks and original productions that combine rock solid, club-ready grooves with lashings of classic disco, boogie and electrofunk flavour. After kicking things off with the Clavinet-heavy P-funk flex of "Give The Funk", Tonbe giddly sprints through peak-time treats such "Original Tool" (a soaring disco-house workout rich in rubbery slap bass), "I Feel Energy" (all saucer-eyed Rhodes riffs, sun-warm grooves and swooping synth-strings), "Hold Me Tight" (low-slung disco-funk) and "Shoot Me Up" (brightly coloured electrofunk).
