Review: One Night In The Borough, the debut full-length from Scottish disco/house fusionists Craig Smith and Graeme "The Revenge" Clark, is arguably the best thing either producer has done yet (and certainly collectively). This first sampler 12" showcases four of the album's many highlights, offering plenty of loopy, floor-friendly grooves for those who like their house with more than a dash of original disco flava. Choose between the slo-mo MDMA soul of "If The Feeling's Wrong" (our pick), the urgent stomp of "Find A Way", the smart retro house vibes of "Changin" and "Iznae", a delightfully stripped-back chunk of late night deep house bliss.

Review: This new single from Tigers On A Leash main man Lou Teti is a bit of a surprise. Whereas previous releases have hovered between the worlds of house, disco and nu-disco, "I Know The Way" veers off towards the rockier end of the cosmic disco spectrum. Sounding like a cross between those odd heavy rock records Daniele Baldelli used to play and Daft Punk making nu-disco, it's a fun and forceful beast. Toomy Disco provides a big, glossy, borderline anthemic nu-disco makeover, while Cassian offers two light-hearted disco-funk takes. Check also Generatto Tape's Dub, which sounds like vintage Orbital jamming with a bongo-fixated percussionist.

Review: The latest in what is becoming known as the "versus" series features a range of styles. It varies from the low slung bass and dark wave synths of the No Ears take on Worst Case Scenario's "Hot Beef" to the chugging, Basic Channel-style chords of Alexkid's "Mousseur Dub" as well as his stripped back, jacking take on Nina Kraviz' "Pain In The Ass". UK vs France also features label boss Matt Edwards' "Loose Joint", in its "Molly's One Day One Night" remix format, which involves skipping percussion and powerful subs. But best of all is I:Cube's take on Toby Tobias' "The Feeling", where sensuous melodies are combined with the most haunting vocals this side of Dead Can Dance.

Review: When he's not releasing clubbier house wares from the likes of Detroit Swindle, Waze & Odyssey or The Carter Brothers, the Australian-based Kevin Griffiths can be seen releasing what he calls Eclectic Musical Magic via his Isle Of Jura label. Following a stream of releases since 2016, first up for 2020 is a reggae disco cover of "Ain't Nobody" by Jamaican artist Yvonne Archer. Originally released in 1980 (40 years ago!) this release comes packed with a Lovers Rock leaning "Checking Out The Way I Feel" with a Jura Soundsystem edit and dub of the original - stripping back guitars for newer delay techniques, washier vocals and extra groove effects for the first of two licensed releases from John Rubie that will appear on Isle Of Jura this year.
